A small but mighty book.
I will never share this book with anyone. I have so many notes and highlights in it no one would be able to read it. This author explains in great detail to not waste your sorrows....or sadness on things because God has a purpose for each of us to experience sorrow. Just get the book and you'll understand.

a must for the challenged soul
Great scripturally based book that explains the plan of God behind our trials and troubles. Most don't know that we don't live our lives without some loss and offense but with the right viewpoint and faith in the work of God to renew your mind and heart we have a real future and a hope. God didn't put us on earth just so we can be happy, but so we can be holy-- someone once said-- and a 'tried' and overcoming life leads to leadership and responsibility in the Kingdom of God. It has helped me greatly to get out of self pity and anger over things that really work for my good---people , places and things are instruments of His workmanship in living above our circumstances and effect the world with life and hope. The author, Paul Billheimer also wrote Destined for The Throne which is a great book about our inheritance to reign with God on earth in the coming Kingdom... our training ground is here now on earth-- nobody is going to just sit around in some kind of 'heaven' someday idle. If you are called into life by our God and Saviour, then also know that He will perfect a good work in you until His coming. You will be encouraged when you find you are not bound by the ills of the world and its representatives that tear you down and enslave you to its vices and sorrows. is a good read, don't be in a hurry to finish it.

Take the time to read slowly and think through the book
This is definitely not an easy read -- not because it was emotional or draining, but because much of it required some thought and processing. Ultimately, the book puts forth that Christians are meant to rule with Christ, and as such, we must become like Christ. As others have said, this tends to happen best through pain, trauma, and sorrow. It is only when we learn these lessons and grow in our ability to agape love others will we not waste the sorrow God has allowed in our lives. While this is a book I would recommend, I caution that you do not try to speed through it, but save it for a time when you can read slowly.

Why Bad Things Really Happen To Good People
I have been a Christian for 30 years now. When I was first saved at the age of 34, my biggest "problem" with God was that of suffering - particularly suffering of "innocents" or suffering by "good" people or suffering caused by the wrong-doing of others to innocent good people. This book gives full expression (with Scriptual back-up) to the Christian concepts of ALL things working for good in the lives of Believers, and Christians ruling and reigning one day in God's eternal Kingdom. I can't say Billheimer's conclusions make me much happier about the suffering that goes on in the here-and-now, but they do away with the notion of senseless, purposeless suffering, and a God Who's uninvolved with His creation. In addition, this book can provide the reader with the courage to "praise God in ALL things," as well as realize that his purpose in life, regardless of his circumstances, should be to bring glory to God!

Mind-changing
This book was very pivotal in helping me think through why the Lord brings trials and adversities into our lives - all the way from lost car keys to the death of a child and everything in between. It's based on the verse that says that what we consider sorrows are working a weight of glory for us in eternity. If you apply what he's teaching from the Bible, trials are maneuverable, even welcomed b/c they are working eternal rewards for us IF we have the right attitude - and that's a big IF. If we fight against God, complain, or even pray for relief like a spoiled child, then we're wasting our sorrows.
