It works for de-soldering after adjustment
I had to align the tips before using. I believe that smaller tips would work better. I used the tool for de-soldering 0805 passive components. I don't have a lot of experience with this type of tool, but I believe that it would be difficult to use the tool for soldering components.

Spend more money and get something reliable.
Trash. When they start to heat up the metal expands and the tips come loose when you apply any amount pressure to them. Tried to use a few times and failed to remove parts as the tips moved around, then you have to cool down, re-tighten, and hope it doesn't happen again - also difficult to align the tips once they loosen. It has one job, and fails miserably.

Not great out of the box, but has potential with modifications
Would not recommend as-is. The tips are way too big for any fine work-- I will either grind them down or fabricate some replacements that are much smaller. Also, one of the tips came stripped of threads! The screw and tip were loose in the box on arrival. The small screw holding the tip would not engage because it was not long enough to engage the non-stripped portion of the holder. Luckily I had a screw that was the same thread pitch and a few MM longer, but quality control might be an issue. It gets hot when plugged in, that's about all I can say for it. Not for precision work (SMDs), without modification. I think with modification it will be an OK tool, but not worth what I paid out of the box.
