Kindred Spirits: Celebrating Pieces of the Past

I flipped through this book once and knew that I had to have it. There is a wide variety of projects, in this book. Each time I turned the page to the next project, I said, "I want to make that". There are a couple of bed sized quilts, throw sized, a couple of table runners, and adorable pickle dish pattern that was framed-really nice. One of the things I like the best about this book is that these are not your typical see it all the time quilt patterns. They are a little different that what you usually see-very interesting. There is a pattern for a smallish pineapple, but the fabric placement and tone makes it different and interesting. The first project in this book is called Brothers and Sisters. It's a bed sized-quilt. I have been quilting for some time, but this just blew me away-gorgeous and yes, the minute you see it you will want to make one too. There are directions to make 6" or 9" block, or you can mix and make both, and a clever scrappy border. Skill level for this book? I would say at least an experienced beginner. You should have a good grasp of basic quilting principles, and block making. I like the variety of projects in this book, and I have to give mention of the fantastic photographs. The detail photographs show great detail-you can see everything. This is one of those books that will stay in my permanent collection, I won't ever get rid of it. I am totally making that Brothers and Sister quilt-for myself!

Inspiring quilt book. Her instructions on the hexie projects are easy to follow. I high recommend this book to other quilters.

Instructions were difficult to understand and block 3 measurements are not correct

This book is full of beautiful quilts, a wool mat and all with the patterns and how to's. 10 projects with full color pictures. Nice book
