A Great Value
I'm a beginner, playing a year now but playing 1++ hours/day. My brother gave me a Chinese LP, but it was just ok. I decided I wanted to experiment with surf music, and this was a cheap guitar with a whammy bar. I had low expectations, but wow is this a great value! I am mechanically inclined, so I did my own setup using internet sources. Very little setup required, minor neck relief, it was great out of the box. The finish is beautiful, I could find no imperfections. I was able to set the action to 3/32", very low with no buzzing. The pickups were the only letdown, I still cant bring the lower string volume up to match the high strings to my liking, but it still sounds very good. Two very important qualities of this Affinity Stratocaster that I like: 1:The neck (nut) width is short, I measured 1-5/8", which is great for people with small hands. 2: This guitar weighed in at 7.5 lbs, very light. The whammy (tremolo/vibrato/whatever) bar works fine, and does not cause the guitar to go out of tune, at least playing surf music. If you go Eddie Van Halen on it, all bets off. My only criticism is that it attaches with coarse thread, so it wont stay where you leave it. I'm going to try teflon tape on the bar threads. I was blown away by the quality for the price. And the surf green looks great!

It plays fantastic and stays in tune while playing even after some tremolo dive-bombs.
I'm going to say right off the bat I know very little about guitars and this is my first electric I bought to use to learn. However the quality of this guitar seems to be pretty good. It should be known that the Affinity model has a slightly smaller locking nut than a standard stratocaster if that that matters to you. The finish on it is really nice, the silvery grey pickguard looks great against the black body. The rosewood fretboard is very smooth and well finished. The fret wires are nice and comfortable and not "cheese-gratery". It stays in tune very well and I haven't felt the need to block the tremolo. You'll probably want to replace the strings right away and the pick-ups eventually. A good inexpensive guitar for a beginner that is easily upgrade-able is my take. I purchased from Sam Ash through Amazon. I'll answer any questions I can. Update: Still playing and loving this guitar. I took it to a local music shop for a professional setup, new strings (D'Addario 9's), and they also smoothed the fretwire ends and polished them. It plays fantastic and stays in tune while playing even after some tremolo dive-bombs. I still recommend it for a beginner.

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
I just received this guitar today. Unboxed it and did a real close inspection. Nothing is wrong with it, It is a very well made guitar. After a tuning it up I plugged it into my marshal amp. The neck feels so smooth and slick pickups sound pretty good so far. I am really impressed with this guitar. After I play with it awhile i will update this review. I've had this guitar for about 3 weeks now. Put new strings on it and adjusted the intonation. String height was OK and pickup height was just fine. The tone is pretty good but will put alnico 5 's on it in the future. otherwise it needs nothing else it plays great looks great and is a very nice guitar to play. The maple fretboard is a lot better feeling than the rosewood, i'm very well pleased with this guitar. would buy another one in a minute.

Great deal Great guitar
I have played guitar since I was 16 (currently 45 yrs). I have had many guitars but I would like to say this guitar is amazing for the price. I was expecting less to be honest. The guitar came out of the box ready to go. Other than tuning I have made no adjustments. I would venture to say it was set up perfect from the factory. No flaws in the finish, neck is perfect, action is amazing. Only flaw is the poor quality pickups. The humbucker sounds good but the single coils are weak and muddy sounding. I usually replace pick ups anyway. I will be getting new Semore Duncan hardware soon and this puppy will be perfect. Also the unit was expertly packaged. The box I received was wrapped in a moisture proof heavy plastic. The guitar was covered in foam and the head was protected by metal foil bag. All in all this is an amazing piece of equipment.

fender squier affinity stratocaster
decided to take up the guitar so i would have something to do in the winter. did a good bit of research and decided on this one. so far, so good. bought a small fender frontman 10g to go with it and am very pleased with both. the guitar seems to be well built even if it is a lower end product. the finish is good looking and the sound is good. no ragged fret ends or scratches on it. for a beginner like me it is ideal especially for the price. would definitely recommend it.

Poorly Constructed Guitar
I did not expect world class quality for $200, but I was sorely disappointed by the workmanship of this guitar. The frets had sharp edges and cut my fingers as I moved up and down the neck. That is just simply unacceptable. How can you assemble a guitar where the frets have sharp edges and cut the player's fingers??????? Don't buy this cheap China made guitar...

Excellent first guitar.
First, let me preface by saying I am a complete newbie. I had only been playing acoustic for about 3 months before I purchased this guitar. For me, as a learning instrument, it is perfect. Everything works as advertised. The guitar shipped from Chicago Music Exchange...they included a comprehensive checklist including the technician's name that worked on setting this guitar up. Action was low and perfect. It sounds and looks great. There are no ragged frets. It came detuned to protect the strings during shipping....each string was exactly 1 step below where they should be. I tuned it up and I have been playing ever since. I have not had to tune it again, I have not had to adjust anything, replace strings, etc. I am completely satisifed with this purchase and I will absolutely purchase other items from Chicago Music Exchange via Amazon. Thank you for an excellent experience.

Es sind good old Slotted-Mechaniken. Ich liebe sie. Saite abschneiden einstecken umknicken dehnen, stimmen fertig. Top Kaufempfehlung

Excellent quality- compares well to my Made in Mexico Fender. Excellent fretwork on this example, and I love the orange colour. Shipped fast. My only complaint is that the packaging it was shipped in was very minimal. As in it was just a box with a thin layer of wrap around the guitar. It bounced around all over in there. Fortunately, no damage was done!
