Since you’re making six at once, you really have to make sure you have even amounts of rice, filling, and second layer of rice so that they all turn out the same. It prevents you from pressing down as far as you want, so if you don’t pack it with enough rice, the onigiri doesn’t form tightly enough to come out whole.

Others have complained about the difficulty to remove your onigiri, which is true. But it’s great for batch cooking rice balls, just need to tap hard on the back.

This takes a little getting use to to get the perfect rice ball. But the right amount of rice and pressure and they are amazing. Place them in some cling wrap and they stay all day.
