Overall, this is a pretty good little digital thermometer. It took a little longer to register temperature than I was expecting. You have to be ready to hold it in place for maybe a minute before it will tell you your temperature.The biggest problem I ran into was the buttons on this. They are very very hard to push. But, if you are looking for an affordable, decent little thermometer- this should do the trick for you.I also like that the recommended meat temps are printed right on the thermometer itself. First I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review. While my review might be an initial one, if something changes while I'm using the product I'll update my review.I like to smoke meat and BBQ or grill depending on where you are from, and these thermometers come in really handy. It runs off of 1 AAA battery and folds up to be compact compared to some of the others. It seems to be able to run through the temperature ranges pretty fast. It seems that it's pretty much on par with the other ones I have for while the meat is in the smoker. So at least it's uniform between them. Build quality seems to be pretty good, and I really like the auto on/off on these. That's just open it up and it turns on, shut it and make sure it clicks back into place and it shuts off. While it's just as easy to push a button, it is nice that just folding it for storage does the trick. The probe seems to be kept in place pretty well and doesn't seem to want to pop free without any help. Over all this would be a good tool to have on the tool belt for taking a temp while cooking pretty much anything since it goes up to 572F, or 300C.

I have been in the market for a new meat thermometer as my other one quit working. I was looking for something that was inexpensive, but still made with quality. I saw this item and gave it a try. The item was well packaged and had not problems upon opening. The first impression was that it was more substantial than it looked on Amazon. I tried to turn it on immediately and found that it did not come packaged with a AAA battery, so I quickly added one and kicked it on. The device turned on immediately and appeared to be reading room temperature. I had some trouble getting the probe out of the closed position, it was very tight, which i figured was a positive thing as it won't fall out of the holder. Once out i tested in some boiling water and it read true and got to the reading quickly. I have not used it for cooking yet, but it read well and quick for the boiling water.
