ZOMBIES & DEMONS
GRIMM FAIRY TALESPRESENTSZOMBIES & DEMONSThis I think is the second “Grimm Fairy Tales” TPB I have reviewed and like last time it is one my lady owned and picked for me to reread. Last time out I was reading about witches while this time it is “Zombies & Demons”. So going back to this one was an easy one since I enjoy horror related stories. Also it should be noted that this collects two tie-in stories from the “Unleashed” storyline that Grimm had going at the time. The first story collects “Zombies: The Cursed” about a man named Elijah. He is a man on a mission, to stop the zombies that just keep coming back. He has been doing it for years upon years with the whip that was once used on him. But things are not always what they seem, neither are people. A few guest stars add to the fun in this zombie massacre tale. A story about zombies, murder, curses and love. The second story features a woman named Masumi who just happens to be a demon hunter. She is great at what she does with the power that was passed down to her. Still as skilled as she is her boyfriend worries for her for she may come across something that even she can’t deal with. That day may be closer than she thinks as someone or something may be planning something big.I really enjoyed both of these stories and found both to work well with the overall storyline of “Unleashed”. The first story involving the zombies is fun with all of the gore that goes along with that territory. Plus with the background we get in it makes for a good read. The Demon story kinda reminds me of something else but I won’t go into that here. It is also a good one with some good action and story. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the Zenoscope books and be sure to check out the “Unleashed” story and the other tie-in book about “Vampires & Werewolves”.

2 separate stories. One quite a bit better. (some spoilers)
This is not a cohesive story, but rather 2 mini-series tied together from 2 separate books in the Grimm Fairy Tales universe. Both are interesting, and I liked them better than most stories in this universe, but my preference was for the first story. In the first story, we meet Elijah who is a modern day zombie hunter, but we find out he is much more. We learn in flashbacks that he was a former slave who fell in love with his master’s daughter and ran away. A zombie curse is sent to hunt him down and kill him and his lover. He proves very handy with the whip that was used to beat him. Many zombies die in gruesome ways. Back in the modern era, we find him still using the whip to fight zombies and he discovers a relative. In the second story, Masumi is a sword-wielding demon hunter. We learn about her past. We learn how she met her boyfriend and how he feels watching her leave to fight demons every night. When demons based on the seven deadly sins attack, Masumi has to make some tough choices to fight back and make sacrifices she may not be willing to make.Art in the Elijah story is pretty good, but less so in the Masumi story, but I enjoyed both stories more than past stories I’ve read in this series. It did help that they were about zombies and demons. Not bad.I was given a review copy of the graphic novel by Diamond Book Distributors and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for letting me review this graphic novel.
