Solidly Built & Love The Carry Bag
Yeah, I didn't want to spend this much for a beach umbrella, but with family visiting I really didn't want them, or myself, having to hold on to the umbrella shaft for the duration of time spent at the beach. I hadn't gone to the beach in a long time b/c, among other things, it had become too stressful as the wind always seemed to be too strong for my cheap & lightweight umbrella & not all the sun's rays were blocked. I decided to purchase this dark blue one after thinking about it for the last year & tested it out recently. , Even if it's used only a few times a year, I think it was a justifiable purchase b/c the cheap umbrellas caused too much stress and I just couldn't relax... which was the whole reason for going to the beach in the first place.I got the navy blue umbrella which came with the carrying bag. I just checked again to make sure & it arrived 3 days after I ordered it so that was a nice surprise. I first opened it at home and set it up in a "dry run" & found that it was easy to set up & put back in the bag. (By the way, not all umbrellas come with the carrying bag; when you click on the umbrella you prefer, the product description changes in the bottom & will indicate whether it comes with a bag or not). You can sling it over your shoulder or, like I did, hold it like a suitcase. I had no problem putting the umbrella portion back in the bag & then sliding the lower pole in the bag as the pole is pointed at the end so it slides easily & you can angle it slightly toward the umbrella if you are worried about straining the bag when sliding the pole in. I found the bag to be just the right size for the umbrella. I used a metal beach umbrella anchor called the sand grabber that I first screwed into the sand. I then fit the umbrella pole into it & then tightened the set screw to secure the umbrella shaft to this umbrella anchor. We had a steady 20 mph wind at the beach & it held the entire time. I probably could have just worked the umbrella's pointed end back & forth & planted it deep in the sand without the anchor, but it got pretty windy so I liked having the anchor. However, I may get one of those 24 inch length 2" thick garden augers that attach to a drill as I read that some people have used them to dig the hole, put the pole in & fill in any remaining gaps with sand & had no problem & swear by this method. Sounds pretty easy. I'd just have to get an extension cord long enough to run from my house to the beach to power the drill...That was a joke-I'm a Boomer.BTW, I didn't see the "Frankford" manufacturing tab anywhere on the umbrella or the bag, but I did notice that the box it came in listed the umbrella type as "Emerald Coast" which I believe is what the Frankford website labels there 7.5' Ash Pole, Acrylic umbrella as.After reading some of the reviews before I purchased this umbrella, I was concerned about the people who couldn't disassemble the lower pole from the main part of the umbrella. I therefore, carefully tried to connect & disconnect the poles several times before I went to the beach & there was no sign of any problems or potential problems. I also had no problems when I disconnected the poles at the beach at the end of the day. I may spray some WD40 (as another reviewer mentioned that he does) on the metal connecting parts of the pole before I use it again, just as a precaution, & will try to make sure no sand is on those metal parts when I connect them as I could see how sand could jam up two pipes that connect by sliding one into another. The only other way I could see the poles being unable to be separated is if the metal connectors were dented or damaged somehow, but then I think it would be very difficult to join them in the first place. I guess theoretically, strong winds (after one sets up the umbrella at the beach) could bend the metal connectors attached to each ash pole making it difficult, or impossible, to disassemble the umbrella at the end of the day, but I'm hoping the connectors are strong enough to prevent that from happening. Regardless, I think in the future, I'll check the metal connectors prior to pushing the pole into the other pole, to make sure neither was damaged while it was stored away.I've only used it once so if anything changes, I'll update my review, but my initial impression is that this is a sturdy umbrella that provides the necessary shade area and appears to be very durable. It has a good heft to it which suggests quality materials & I like the ash pole a lot better than the thin aluminum poles that the cheaper umbrellas use. If this umbrella proves durable, it will be worth every penny.

Worth every penny!
We visit the beach several times a year. I could not make it on the beach all day without and umbrella. Always rented umbrellas or bought cheap ones. was paying $90-100 a week just to rent the umbrella from the beach chairs and they come take it too early. Bought this one last year, same exact quality of the rental and it has paid for itself in a couple beach trips. The best! Thick water repellent canvas. Cooler shade and blocks the sun.

Great umbrella
Great quality umbrella. Doesn’t flap noisily in the wind like a lot of umbrellas.

A rugged, beach-worthy umbrella.
This product fits into the same standards as the rental umbrellas you see at the beaches. The cloth has a heavy feel, the bow rods are strong and you can see the quality; it exceeded our expectations. We used this umbrella for a week at Rehoboth Beach, DE, where it was easy to embed the lower pole about half way into the sand; one day was windy, no problems with this one but several others went flying down the beach. This umbrella deserves the high quality carrying bag, which even has an internal sleeve for the lower pole, well worth the extra cost for the protection it provides.

Excellent Quality with a low price tag
Very happy with this umbrella. We vacation at Myrtle Beach and most people buy umbrellas from a local company there at over twice what I paid for the same excellent quality. Design really stands up in the wind.

Safety issues BROKEN SEWING NEEDLE
The media could not be loaded. Check for broken sewing needle. We were at the beach using the umbrella. When I went to reach into the beach bag under the umbrella. I scrapped my skull on a broken needle. That was lodged in the end cap. It cut my head open several inches. I get this is probably a fluke and things happen. But I just don’t want it to happen to someone else. I’m 6’4 if this was someone shorter this needle could have gone into their eye. That’s enough of the bad. Overall the umbrella has stood up to the wind on the beach. Material feels good. Time will tell how long it lasts.Just inspect umbrella when you get it and you should be fine.
