Very Useful Resource
I purchased this as a resource to prepare for my Texas Life and Health Insurance. I found it to be a very good resource to prepare for my exam. The book is very well thought out, and all the chapters flow very well. The chapters are not very difficult to go through and you can easily do 2-3 a day depending on you pace. The longer chapters are an indication of the amount of material the actual exam will cover, so do pay attention to these chapters as you prepare for the exam. The glossary is also very helpful if you have not been exposed to insurance/securities terms before. The book also includes 3 practice final exams. The questions on these practice final exam will prepare you for the actual exam. Truth be told I only took two practice exams, and was satisfied with my scores, so I scheduled the actual exam soon after. As you can see I got a 79.I would recommend reading the book once through, taking the practice exam. Go through and reread the areas where you were weaker on, and then reread every chapter summary the book contains, and take another practice exam, and repeat. I would also recommend not writing on the practice exams, that way you can retake a practice exam should you want or need to.I hope this review was helpful, and I wish you the test taker best of luck on your studies, and your test.

Sufficient if you're a good reader
I would call this book sufficient. I spent two days reading it, took the practice tests in the back, re-read the sections corresponding to the questions I missed, and passed the test the first time. So, it contains enough of the right information to be useful. However, I would not say it is particularly well-written, and it definitely does not make much of an attempt to contextualize the information, to give illustrative examples, or to help you retain things. For instance, if you took a course, you might have an instructor give you mnemonic devices for some of the sets of numbers and definitions you need to remember. Or you might have them pause in the midst of explaining something important to take two or three different tacks at the subject in order to make sure it sinks in.This book, however, is about as dry and straightforward as they come.If you just want the information laid out as succinctly as possible, you'll be happy with it. If you want someone to walk you through it like a teacher might, you're going to be left wanting. I think the best case scenario might be to take a course and buy this book as a supplement.

I found errors!
Glaring errors in the first chapter was more than I could tolerate.Update: However, after reviewing some of the alternatives, I realize this MAY be the best actual printed Study Guide for the Life Ins. exam available on Amazon.
