It seems to be well-built: no plastics inside
I paired with my 12-ft cast rod. It pairs well. I have not gotten to the ocean, just tried at a large reservoir, and it looks like it will do the job--if I get used to using a very large rod and reel combo. Practice! One thing to note is that the splice I tied into the line somehow snagged loose line when cast, and bunched up into a ball, and hit the line guide. Well, the wire was pushed out of the channel. What a bummer. I guess I should attribute this mishap to my fault. I just popped it back, and the reel functioned flawlessly. I cut out the portion ahead of the splice, and problem solved and lesson learned: do not splice a snapped line, no matter how long, if your cast sends the splice through the line guide. Duh.The reel turns smoothly, without any resistance or noise. I just cannot wait till how it will behave, when a heavy load is put on by fighting fish. Some complain that the clicker is not loud enough. It was loud enough and adequate enough for me. The spool unlock button operates positively, locking back up, after you turn the crank. One problem: the lowest setting for drag is still pretty weighty, yet at the tightest setting, I can still pull the line out. This presents a problem: a strong fish might never agree to meet me, after a long fight. After playing with it by tightening and loosening a few times, it has reached to the point where I could not pull out the lines. I could have tried to pull it until the 60lbs line snapped, but I quit before the line cut into the flesh.

No consumer directions
Arrived as promised. There are no directions as to the proper operation of the reel. Although I spend many hours fishing with spinning reels this is my first baitcaster for still fishing trout. I had to serch the internet to find a site which explained the spool alignment knob (underneath the star drag handle)and the casting knob on the other side of the reel. The velvet bag for storage is a nice gesture but by far would have appreciated operating instructions ,once on a rod most do not remove. The reel appears solidly constructed with metal in place of plastic as with other models and look foward to its use.

Slightly disappointed
This is the third Kastking reel for me. I had high hopes since my first was a Sharkey spinning reel that’s probably the best I’ve ever owned. Right out of the box on this Rover I noticed it was noisy when reeled. There is a distinctive whine. Also there are no instructions on how to set the magnetic drive. Took it out yesterday and tried several different lures with varying weight but almost every cast was a backlash/birds nest. Some of them pretty bad. No matter how I set the magnetic drive it backlashes. The potential is there for long smooth casts but the reel just won’t do it. The retrieve however is smooth and the reel seems built quite well. This is the second Kastking bait caster I’ve bought and both are really hard to cast. This one is probably going to be used primarily for vertical fishing and for that it will work well. I was just hoping for more. It’s definitely not a replacement for an Abu Garcia but then it’s also less than half the price!

#70 is a Solid Reel
Solid, aluminum frame, sides and spool. I put 10 colour lead core on it for trolling for walleye. Holds 10 colours perfectly with about 50 feet of backing to start. If you want more lead core you will need the #80 or #90 models.
