Mazda 5 p0791 intermediate shaft sensor code only
Mazda 5 and 3s have 1 (2 prong) input speed sensor, and 2 (3 prong) output sensors, one next to the tcm on top of the transmission, and the 3rd that fixed my p0791 was the intermediate shaft output sensor (they are interchangable) is on the backside of the transmission underneath a heat shield. 10mm bolts for the shield, and for the part. Be aware that it will be full of transmission fluid. What I did was made sure the new one was clean and rubbed a little transmission fluid on the oring, loosened, and removed the bolt- then very quickly wiggle the old out with the left hand, and have the new one in your right hand to quickly plug the leak. Make sure you check your fluid level with the car running and top it off with type M or appropriate fluid afterwards. I lost like 200ml at most. Works so far.

Defective
I have a 2008 Mazda 3. I was getting a P0791 (intermediate shaft speed sensor A) error code. I installed this part, and the error code came back. I bought a higher quality sensor at a local parts store and after installing, the error code went away. I determined that this part was defective on arrival.
