Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition. Swept Away is the 1984 album by the legendary Diana Ross on the RCA label. The album was certified Gold and peaked at #26 on Billboard Pop Albums Chart, making this her last album to reach the Top 40, which also made the top ten in The Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. Swept Away certainly did what it needed to do, which was to give Diana Ross some new hits and keep her on the charts. Beyond that, it gave her a classic, "Missing You," on which she offered one of the great performances of her career. The album itself holds up pretty well and Swept Away is certainly one of Diana's best at RCA, which features some sparkling highlights and anthems than it's predecessor, Ross.

Defective right out of the box - QUALITY CHECK WHEN YOU RECEIVE - SELLER NOT AT FAULT
I received this CD in new condition from the seller. I quickly discovered that although the second disc was labeled with all of the remixes, the time-stamps for the track lengths were matching those of the first disc (the album). For example, the first song on the album is Missing You, which lasts 4:06. The first song on the second disc (remix disc) is Swept Away (12" Long Version) and is supposed to last 7:39... but the track marker is set at 4:06, so if you fast forward to get to the next track, you are right in the middle of the 12" Long Version remix. The second song on the album (Touch By Touch) lasts 4:12, but what happens on the second disc (remix disc) is that the song is in the middle of the 12" of Swept away, which fades just before the end of the track and goes into the 12" Instrumental of Swept Away. These incorrect track markers ensure that the second disc cannot be listened to properly, nor can the songs be properly uploaded to iTunes or any other software as the lengths are all wrong - THE SELLER IS NOT AT FAULT HERE - I was in contact with him, and he offered to replace the disc, then checked his remaining stock, and they were ALL messed up. This is the fourth Diana Ross Expanded Edition I have had trouble with either the disc being mislabeled and not containing the correct tracks, or the encoding being corrupted to where the music is replaced by electronic squealing, or in this case the track encoding is wrong (see my reviews on "Silk Electric", "Eaten Alive" and "Red Hot Rhythm & Blues"). I don't know who has been doing Quality Control on these re-issues, but they are terrible, and Miss Ross deserves so much better. Do yourself a favor and LISTEN TO THE CD when you first get it to ensure it's correct. That way if it's wrong you can get a replacement or refund, otherwise you may be stuck with a CD that is useless to you and cannot be enjoyed properly.

Where’s CD 1?
This is advertised as a 2-cd set being it’s an expanded edition. to my surprise, I received only CD 2...the extended, alternate, edited, and instrumental versions. I am returning this CD requesting a replacement to received the complete 2-CD set.Stay tuned as I’ll write an updated review.

Second disc is bad
As an earlier reviewer mentioned, disc 2 with the remixes is completely wrong and unusable (wrong tracks, wrong song lengths, wrong labels). Such a shame - this is one of Diana's best (of the RCA lot) and I really wanted the bonus tracks this expanded edition offered. So frustrated.

You can't go wrong with Diana Ross. This 1984 ...
You can't go wrong with Diana Ross. This 1984 album has her usual silky satin vocals and the force of her personality shines through on the well written and well produced tracks.A treat for the ears. Do yourself a favor and purchase this on Amazon!

OMG! Diana is that you?
Swept Away was Diana Ross' 11th solo studio album and her fourth for RCA finds her working with a variety of producers from Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates) to Lionel Richie and even taking a turn as producer for a highly eclectic album that varies from her standard pop/R&B to rock. The album opens with the tender Marvin Gaye tribute "Missing You" which is very befitting song for one-time labelmate and also shows off Richie's songwriting skill. Next is the lovely "Touch by Touch" which is a highly enjoyable dance number. Track three is a cover of an old 1960s R&B song "Rescue Me" which Ms. Ross breathes new life in by turning it into a R&B-infused rock song. Track five "Swept Away" was which co-written by Mr. Hall and Sara Allen finds once again going into rock mode with a highly infectious pop-rock number that will make you dance and sing along with it. Following that is "Telephone" which finds her working with Bernard Edwards of Chic again for a tender love song about always being there for that special someone. Next up is also the enjoyable pop song "Nobody Makes Me Crazy Like You Do" and she closes the album out with another cover Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" which once was reworked from the upbeat power ballad to a slow tender R&B song which works well with her vocals.

One of the better 80s Albums by Diana Ross
The evocative "Missing You," the catchy "Swept Away," and the lush duet "All of You" make this a relatively good CD.

Excellent reissue of an 80s Diana classic
Review of Swept Away 2CD Deluxe EditionThis is an excellent reissue of Diana's 1984 RCA release. Generally this album is considered a return to form following the slightly disappointing release "Silk Electric" and the relative commercial failure of "Ross" (although both albums have their admirers). CD1 contains a crisp remaster of the original album and CD2 is made up of bonus remixes and "Fight For It" (a welcome addition to this release). Like the other reissues in this series, my only minor gripe is that these are standard jewel cases rather than gatefold editions.Whilst not the most adventurous of her albums in terms of material, there's a good mix of styles from ballads to reggae pop and pop rock with a great mid-eighties production sound throughout. As others have pointed out, the only song to skip on the album is "We Are The Children Of The World". It's a shame, because if they had dropped this track in favour of "Fight For It" the finished product would have been perfect. This accessible, solid and varied album comes highly recommended. Track highlights for me are Missing You, Touch By Touch, Swept Away, Forever Young.

Good edition. But ATTENTION to false BURNED copies...
Good quality edition, with all versions that I expected to find. But be careful: in circulation there are also non-certified copies, burned CDs such as those that I've received. And they are not original FunkyTownGrooves The bad surprise in the disk 2: inaudible noises and errors in numbering the tracks, and the last song cutted (or missing in another title)...I'll buy it again (hoping this time they are original).

Essential for Diana fans
One of my favorite non Motown Diana cd's. Disc 2 with its 12" versions makes it an even more essential purchase for Diana fans also the inclusion of "Fight for It" which I had never heard until now.

It's really good to have REMASTERED and EXPANDED Diana's 6 RCA albums
It's really good to have REMASTERED and EXPANDED Diana's 6 RCA albums. The sound is great. My only disappointment is that CDs come in a standard case, with liner notes, instead of a digipack with original artwork.
