Minnesota Atlas & Gazetteer (Delorme Atlas & Gazetteer) Paperback – Import, June 6, 2016

I love this map! I call it my grid map. It is very easy to use, I use mine every time even if I am only going 50 miles and typically would take a major highway. I have found some beautiful scenes along the way and it may only add a couple minutes to the trip. I bought this map for my daughter's family, they like to explore. You learn much more from one of these maps than from a GPS. You get to see where you are in connection to say a major highway. The map will allow you to chose many alternate routes. You never know what you might see just around the corner. There are wonderful county roads throughout MN, but if you only use freeways or four lane highways, you never get to really experience our beautiful state.

Every little squiggle in the road, every little stream or pond. It's like zooming in and really getting to know the state, with lists of rivers and lakes, plus public access locations to them. Even fire trails in the wilderness are shown, as well as small streets in the cities.It's a book that goes with me on any trip. Sometimes I NEED it, but I always enjoy the connection between the printed page and the real location. It's wonderful for helping a child learn to navigate because it's easy to watch for a small bridge or side road, a slight curve in an otherwise straight road, etc., and they don't have to wait long to see the next landmark. It's a real treasure that can enhance any trip or the planning of an outing.

For starters, Amazon's price of $14.99 was $5 less than the book is sold for in retail stores. We used the maps to explore the Superior shore north of Duluth and found them to be complete and accurate. Numbered Interstate exits are very helpful as are the numbered campgrounds, recreation areas and other features. One note of caution: Not all the green areas are state/national lands. This differs from the Delorme Michigan Atlas. I've had the Michigan book for several years and use it often. It's has held up well with no loose pages. This book seems to be of similar good quality.

This is still the best atlas you can buy for Minnesota. The detail is great and I'm always surprised at the things included on the maps (e.g. hiking trails, etc.). When we first began hunting for a rural home we bought one of these. A glance revealed all of the area features--swamp land, lakes, etc. and things we might wish to avoid (snowmobile trails & railroads). Our old atlas is still good, but we wanted our daughter to start fresh with her own copy.

It is nicely made. I knocked off a star because there is no close up for the twin cities section. Most maps, even free ones would have an page or two for Duluth, Twin Cities, and Rochester with more zoomed in looks at roads and areas of interest.

I purchased a Delmore Atlas while down in Florida and was so impressed that I am buying more for each state that I frequently road trip in. The atlas shows camping areas, boat launches, rest stops and a plethora of other information that is useful when planning trips or just for general knowledge. Your phone is a great tool when used in conjunction with this atlas.

If you ever want to get into the great MN outdoors, this is the map for you. It's state wide, topo, has all the lake accesses, all the roads to get you to and from your adventures. Wouldn't go anywhere without this. Might just get another one for the second vehicle.

My neighbor has an outdated gazzateer and I was impressed with it so I ordered one. Having one of my own has been great for finding new fishing spots. I've ordered 2 more to hand out to fishing buddy's so they can guide me now. A must have in the fishing arsenal
