Dirk Van Erp emigrated from Holland to San Francisco where he established a now famous coppersmith shop (1910-1933) making household goods including his highly valued lighting products. His designs have come to be synonymous with the West Coast Arts & Crafts Movement. Van Erp's lamps consisted of hammered-copper bases and shades of translucent mica (also called isinglass) treated with shellac to give them an amber cast. The Period Arts Fan Company has taken the liberty of designing two new ceiling fans that we feel lie well within the spirit of Van Erp. The Arcadia and the Bodega fans incorporate the hammered metal, exposed rivet assembly and warm mica diffusers used on the original lighting designs from his studio. Although authentic in design and appearance, these fans use modern motor design, electronic controls, energy-saving lighting and a lifetime motor warranty. They will enhance both the beauty and comfort of your home.Rubbed Bronze or Hammered Steel.Optional light available with mica shade (amber for Rubbed Bronze or white for Hammered Steel) and incandescent or energy-saving compact fluorescent lamping.Includes 5" and 13" down rods, yielding 16" or 24" overall length.
