Seems to be a well thought out book with sound nuitritional advice! Organization could be better.
I picked up this book last week and spent the weekend reading it. Today I finally went and make my grocery list and hit the store. I'm almost 62 and no newbie to the exercise and dieting game. Twenty two years ago I was in peak shape, 175lbs, 9% body fat at 5'10". Fast forward to today after 20 years in the airline business, with long days short nights, and being tired a lot. I'm 30 lbs heavier, BMI of 27, still try to workout and exercise but not nearly the shape as in the past. Now that I've retired, I hope to regain some of what I've lost. In the past I've done the Keto, and Paleo, diets numerous times , as well as juice fasting and intermittent fasting. Each of these provided some temporary success. The problem for all was they were unsustainable, so the results were short lived.Several things stick out to me in reading this book. Nutritionally, I like that no food group is excluded, there are plenty of protein, fats, grains, and carbs. Some individual foods are excluded and the rational given. You eat throughout the day, which is a proven way of sustaining your metabolism, and preventing hunger. The calorie intake is reduced particularly in the first 5 days. Walking is the initial exercise of choice, which is great due to its low impact, and proven benefits for most people. (A very old book I once reviewed " The Israeli Fitness Strategy" showed how walking, particularly with increased resistance, proved to be so good for fitness it became a major part of Israel's fitness program for new military recruits.)I really like that Harley offers alternatives to foods to accommodate vegetarians, such as substitutes for yogurt and other dairy based proteins.A few areas that could be better. The organization is a bit off. Phase II, and III have menu's laid out but there is no corresponding menu for Phase I. He does do a nice job explaining it and you can figure it out, it's not just not as clear. In the appendices he provides all the various soups, meal, snack and smoothie recipe's. Except the one for the Phase I the green soup. Green soup is in appendix B, "Smoothie Recipes" under Basic Recipes. I was tearing the book apart for the Green Soup recipe, since I brought the broccoli and zucchini from the Phase I food list, but it wasn't listed under the Soups, the rest of which are listed in appendix D.The Phase II Menu Guide, lists snacks as C- snacks. This is the first time I see this as there is no Phase I menu guide, and in the relevant chapter he just refers to snacks. So is a bit unclear. Later in the book he mentions Crunchy snacks as C-snacks, which begs the question; is a difference between regular snacks and C- snacks. One other area I find a bit confusing is that a lot of the recipes are for servings of four. I think at most a couple may be trying this program, but 4? IF you're one person, then you either skip it or you'll be eating this all week.I like that he differentiates food amounts for heavier people with the three basic recipes. Unfortunately it doesn't apply to other smoothies or meals. The exercises are very basic, but they do have different difficulty levels which is great for beginners. I just think for those really trying to get into shape and more fit these may come up a little short. I've ordered another of Harvey's books and hope he expands the exercise selection more.I'll add to this as I go through the program. I like having a laid out food plan, with a lot of variety , that looks pretty healthy. Hopefully, this clears up a few things regarding the organization. I do think it's a good book, and look forward to working through this.

Confusing book
This book is choppy and has left me confused. In phase one do you have one white smoothie, one red smoothie, one blended soup and two snacks? Or can you have whatever smoothies are in the book- for example two “white smoothies” in a day and no red? If that’s the case why are they labeled red vs white- just call them smoothies- or specifically state what color smoothies should be consumed at each time of day. Also the grocery list for phase one has stuff on it that I don’t see I’ll need anywhere! And the green soup- do you only pick 1 of the 4 listed vegetables? Why does it say to add carrots in the recipe but tells you to pick from one green vegetable in the table? The green soup is good with just the broccoli but the recipe makes no sense. Also why do some recipes have serving sizes for 2-4 people.I assume the original book of this was good but the revised version is half-assed and super confusing. Recipes are good but wouldn’t recommend for anyone to follow a plan- phase 1 is legit a mess in this book.

Smoothies Seem Doable
This diet is obviously for people that don't have Full Time jobs or Children. The smoothies seem doable but the soups look disgusting and trying to get in 12,000 steps a day while working a full-time job is ridiculous. The other recipes aren't appetizing at all with the exception of some of the breakfast ones and aalads. Good luck if you try it.

This Works If You Do It!
This is a game changer in the diet world! If you read this book and apply what Harley says to do you will feel amazing and it will show!! I have followed this eating plan for 1 month now and I have NEVER felt so good! I used to suffer from food bloating & cramping daily. Constantly feeling sluggish & tired. With this healthy eating plan I am loosing the lbs fast and I have more energy than I have had in years. The recipes do not disappoint. They are packed with plenty of flavor & leave you feeling satisfied & not still hungry. I went from eating 3 times a day to 5 times a day every 2-3 hours. In the first 15 days I lost 9 lbs and in a month a total of 13 lbs. My beginning weight was 156 & I am 50 years old. I walk & run 5-8 miles a day EVERYDay!! (12,000 steps) I have always been a runner but I allowed myself to get lazy & now I'm back at it! I feel amazing!! If you quit being lazy and make these changes you will see results & feel so much better. I am so thankful I found Harley's books!
