Yes, it actually works.
I am in no way affiliated with the company that made this. They did not pay/gift me anything to review this and I reside in the land of the free 🦅Guys, listen. This is a Chinese product that is made specifically to be used with the software that comes on the included flash drive. Most of the software on the flash drive is also modified by the same company that makes this product. The installation process is annoying and tedious but it DOES WORK if you do everything correctly. It took me a little bit to actually get it installed but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that everything was actually functional. A genuine tech 2 is still $800+ and even a tech 2 clone is $300+They specify that a Windows 7 32bit operating system is required and that's what I'm using for this. After you install the software and get everything functional I recommend never updating anything again. That laptop is now your "tech 2" laptop and nothing else. You can find cheap laptops on eBay.Kinda sketchy? Yeah. Functional? Also yeah.

The stories of viruses and malware are 100% correct
TLDR - a seemingly well built device that requires software/drivers that are clearly packed with malware. No option to install drivers only and not get the viruses. If you are looking for a solution to communicate with actual licensed factory software this will work, but you shouldn't expect this to provide software for you if you want anything current or legal.First the good - the actual adapter seems solidly built and works well as a j2534 passthrough. I was able to connect with FDRS and FJDS after paying for the 2 day subscription from Ford for $50.Now the bad - I saw multiple reviews mentioning viruses and having to disable antivirus to install. Told myself maybe those folks were mistaken. Sure you get the warnings for unverified publisher etc. but an actual virus? Then I told myself maybe those folks were using the cracked manufacturer software provided which I didn't want.I went directly to the Allscanner website, downloaded VXManager installer and ran it - chose only to install J2534 passthrough functionality - never ran any of the apps that come with it.- The first sign of trouble was my desktop background going to solid black and some of my apps crashing. I ran a scan with Windows Defender and it flagged a malicious program for removal.- Downloaded Bitdefender and did a full scan. Another malicious program hiding in the VX manager apps folder listed as a Trojan.- Went to my control panel to remove - surprise - I had a new virtual VPN that was installed at the same time as the program.- As if all that wasn't bad enough almost all of the "apps" that are in the VXManager folder need "permission to make changes to this computer" when you attempt to open them. Definitely not something one expects to find in software that has already been installed. If I could just have a j25354 driver and not all the dangerous software I'd be fine...

Has a VPN embedded in software!!!!
So after fighting with this for 3 days I have decided I hate people, stuff like this is absolutely wrong, this is a misleading sale every step of the way, only because of some other experience that I have with programs like this could I even get it installed. Way beyond finicky for the install, tap open vpn in the software and, copy and paste License crap. The whole thing is pirated the license went out of date 4-24 the drivers are not supported in win 7 like they lead you to believe (and I will not put it on my win 10 machine because of that hidden vpn).list of yuck.win xp no workwin 7 no workwin 10 work but boost your security if you're going use a network connected machine or something that you use for other than just vehicle scanning and or repair ( if you can get to work at all).and for the last bit BE SAFE WITH YOUR DATA.
