Rhode Island Novelty 7" Wooden Train Whistle

Hehe, just keep in mind kids LOVE these whistles. They do sound like real train whistles and are solid wood which makes them look great. I had a few left over from my kids party and felt like tossing them all in the trash after a month as my boy would find them and blow them at most random times ... Keep in mind — THEY ARE LOUD!

I ordered these for my son's third birthday party as a party favor. They came quickly but they were so horrible that I left them at home instead of giving kids a train whistle that doesn't work. In order to get any sound out of them you have to put your whole mouth around the wood, which would be fine if the wood wasn't so big that it barely fits in my mouth. How is a three year old going to do it? And even if they could the whistle is not very loud and doesn't sound anything like a train whistle. This was a very disappointing waste of my money.

They are perfect!! Perfect size. None broken. Delivered quick. Perfect train party favors for kids of all ages. Packaged nice. Not too loud.

Overall not the best train whistles, but for the price they are excellent. I tested all of ours because of other reviews and every single one did make noise, but a few took quite a bit of force to make a good noise. These were not very loud whistles which was great for us since we were using this as a part of a party favor for my son's 2nd birthday and lets be honest, no one wants to hear your two year old blowing an obnoxiously loud whistle all day. They are on the smaller side, but perfectly sized for a whole bunch of 2-3 yr olds. Other reviews mentioned them splintering and being rough, but all of ours were sanded smoothly. I am very happy with this purchase based on the price we paid and our need for them as party favors.

Ok so when I bought these I went through so many reviews to find the perfect ones.I have four kids at home. And the mothers for my birthday party have 2-3 kids at home. So when you buy whistles, sure you want loud... after the party; not so much. I wanted low sounds of whistles. These worked great. The kids learn to blow them and be "loud" as a parent when my 4 kids were blowing them all through the house, it isn't unbearable. Sometimes all that you get is air. Majority of time you get a low whistle. It is great for small parties and after the party for adults.

I volunteer at Descanso Gardens, sometimes as a conductor in the miniature railroad. I have a train whistle of another brand, much larger than these are, and it works pretty well. I thought I'd take a chance on these, bring in a dozen of them for the other volunteers if they wanted them. I knew there was a chance these might not be any good, and they're just not. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to return them, but there really is no use for the stupid things. They come as close to not working at all as they possibly could and still work a little bit.They don't sound like a train AT ALL; in fact they don't sound like much of anything. It's a weak sound that just sounds like a regular whistle, with something wrong with it.

These were bought as a favor with the hats. They are smaller than what I had originally thought, but they are really nice- they are made out of wood so that the kids aren't going to break them very easily. Some of the whistles however had the holes not cut out all the way and it made blowing into the whistle a little harder, but the kids were in love with these and played all afternoon and many times after that with these!
