How can a piece of colorless, transparent crystal cause the eye to perceive such magnificent flashes of every hue in the rainbow? The fiery display simply defies the logic my mind insists should prevail. Brilliant sparks of hot pink and bright red alternate with flamboyant shards of vivid green, only to be overcome, in turn, by intense bolts of stunning blue and deepest purple. What a delicious dilemma this is, and how delightful that we are privy to its beauty whether or not we can define the cause.
