My Cuisine-Watermelon Slicer Corer & Server Knife - Stainless Steel Watermelon Cutter

A little disappointed in the size and quality of this. It is OK for small seedless melons but not much else.

Actually works very well on a ripe watermelon. Faster than cutting it up with just a knife.

Didn't work as well as I had hoped.

The price was right for an impulse purchase, and I have found it easy to use. Other than slicing the melon in half, there is little risk of cutting yourself and much less mess since the juices stay inside the watermelon "bowl" as you slice out the flesh. This device made getting the watermelon cut into fruit salad so easy that I volunteered to make one for the potluck again this week. If you want to take it out in a single "slice", you're limited to a watermelon no more than 10 to 11 inches in diameter, because that is the extent of the reach of the cutting edges. The cutting edge is not sharp, but with very little force you pull the device through a ripe watermelon, nonetheless. The device washes up well by hand and the finish is just fine.

First of all, it took 3 weeks to receive this product from China. Had I known this I would not purchase it. The long delivery time should be mentioned in product description so potential buyers are aware of it.The material used to make this product is very soft/thin so the cutting track changes while you slice watermelon, making it very hard to remove the cut pieces out of the watermelon. In addition, you can only use it on a small watermelon as the cutting depth is short/shallow. On a watermelon that I purchased at Costco, I can't use this tool to cut it unless the watermelon is cut into 1/2 along the long side (along with the stripes).

This was one of the least expensive ones on Amazon. It was a tad bent as it was shipped from overseas in a plastic envelope. However, I was able to tweak it back into place and the price was way less than most of the offers. This was the second one I bought as I gave my first away, so I know what to expect. There is a learning curve. It took a couple of watermelons to get the hang of it, but it is a whole lot less messy than using just a knife.

This slicer is a great idea for quickly cutting up watermelon without all the mess. I would suggest that a knife cut around the inside of the rind would allow for dicing as well as slicing.
