Leaves too much waste. After many attempts
Not a time saver. Leaves too much waste.After many attempts, I cannot get the hang of this. It is difficult to create enough leverage to really pull through and slice a watermelon without leaving a lot of it still on the rind. I'm not able to create uniformly thick slices as there may be some twisting and turning to pull the slicing wire through. From slice to slice, I'm not able to get uniform thickness, either. Also, the slices are about 1/4 inch thicker than how I would like it. That might be a personal preference.There's enough difficulty slicing a watermelon. It certainly will not perform on cantaloupe, honeydews, hami melons, etc. At best, if it works on a watermelon, this is a one trick pony. All in all, this is going into the recycle bin. It's not worth cluttering up the kitchen tool drawer.

... because after the novelty wears off after 1 use, I figured a knife is way more versatile

Not as easy to use as I thought
Not as easy to use as I thought. When I go in to cute the watermelon it's hard to get all the way to the bottom. A lot of work just to try and cut it right .
