Happy Camper

I eat a lot of tofu. I did a mess of research before buying this press. It's fabulous. It doesn't press as fast as the screw variety, but it doesn't has to be tightened. When I bring the tofu home, I open it and put it in the press which I place in the refrigerator. It neatly catches the water. I've found it keeps well that way in the fridge for at least two or three days, and when I want tofu, it's well pressed and ready to go. And, it washes really easily by hand or in the dishwasher. I couldn't be happier with it.

It works!

This is my first time using an official tofu press. So far I’ve always used a couple plates, paper towels, and some heavy cans. This is easy to wash, and in theory, easy to use. The mechanism is simple. Spring loaded. Snap top lid. That lid made me crazy though. It’s super fiddly and has to be pressed down just so to get the clips lined up. Maybe it’s user error, but it’s a pain to get it clipped. I like that I can add the tofu block to the holder and stick it in the fridge for later. It’s compact and easy to tuck away.

It's alright

Doesn't super press tofu but it gets part of the job done. I generally press tofu for a few hours, then once most of water is out DO NOT FLIP UPSIDE DOWN or you will get tofu juice all over, and then I wrap In a washcloth size cloth and press it again in the container. (Still better than using dog food cans that my roommate insisted I stole, albeit didn't leave the kitchen table nor do I have a dog or any other reason to steal dog food.) Anyway. The tofu press works, but you must do a bit extra work. And yes the washcloth will fit in the tofu press but you gotta use some superior hand arm muscle/coordination to get the sides locked in. And surprisingly I haven't broke it yet by doing this!

Easy and useful

I was nervous about getting this but was so happy that I did. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. Best part is it’s the perfect size and doesn’t take up much room.

Worth to Buy for Homemade Tofu or Paneer.

You can make Tofu or Paneer (Indian Version of Tofu or cottage cheese) nicely in this container. It’s worth to buy this.

Not good and super hard to use

I was hoping that this would work well as my original press is MUCH larger in comparison and who has extra kitchen space to waste. Sadly - it is not good at all. The first time it was almost impossible to close at all - just to start. I thought I was doing something very wrong as I could not close it and meanwhile my tofu was making squishing sounds as I valiantly tried to close this thing. It took all of my might and strength putting this thing on a low table so that I could press all of my weight upon it to close it. Even then it was so tricky to get all four sides to snap as the pressure pushing back from the tofu is INTENSE. That time I thought it did a decent enough job even though it was extremely hard to use. Then I used it again in tandem with another press as I had a lot of tofu to prepare for a BBQ and when I compared the amount of liquid that was pressed out - this one pressed about half. : ( I actually had to repress the tofu I pressed with this one. I can not recommend this at all. Such a shame as it is small and the concept seems good – it just does not function well especially in regards to ease of use.If you found my review helpful, why not click the “helpful” button. Not enough pressure from the spring

This set didn't really work for me. I like to press out as much water as possible from my frozen/thawed tofu, but the only pressure on the tofu in this set comes from the spring, which isn't very strong. It presses to a certain point and then stops, and you can't adjust it to press harder. If you take the set apart after that and manually press the tofu between the two plastic pieces (like you can do with two plates), lots more water will come out. Also, the clips on the sides are extremely difficult to close when there's tofu in the press. If I get another press I'll only get one that has screws or some other method for manually increasing pressure. The springs don't allow for adding pressure. You have to do it manually, which I can already do with two plates.
