Wonderful first kite for kids!
This is a really fun, traditional first kite for kids. Very easy to assemble and carry, and easy to launch and fly. The kite comes with a long (12') thee-streamer tail, which makes for a colorful, visually interesting flight. My only criticism is the lack of instructions to tell you to put the spar (horizontal stick) between the kite sail and the spine (vertical stick) to fly properly, which inexperienced kite flyers may not know. This kite works best in light 5-10mph wind. Have fun, and GO FLY A KITE!

not stable in steady wind.
wobbles and not reliable in a steady breeze to stay afloat. looks great. doesn't fly well.

Very nice kite
traditional design and flew very well with very little trouble and not much crashing. I would recommend this kite and buy another one like it. Good for flying on the beach

Easy to fly, beautiful long tail
This kite works great. Any kite needs a strong, steady wind to fly it, so I wouldn't pay too close attention to reviews that say they can't fly it for some unknown reason. This one stays in the air for me no problem. Once it's in the air, I can literally tie it to a bench and it flies itself it is so easy to use. I had the kite all the way out to the very end of the string (which is pretty good quality btw, thicker/stronger than another kite I have) and the wind died down, so the kite takes a nose-dive and lands on the ground. While I'm winding up the string to get ready again, the wind picked up again, and literally got the kite in the air again before I made any effort to get it up. So easy to fly. I have a 2-year old who loves the long tail on it too. Once it's in the air, I'm able to give the handle to her and she's able to fly it no problem. You can't go wrong with this kite. It also looks identical to the one in the children's book "Ladybug Girl At the Beach." Also, stores nicely in it's packaging for when you're not using it.Only thing to be aware of: The ends of the poles have rubber covers that make the tips soft. Be careful not to lose them (they can pop off), otherwise the tips of the poles are a little bit sharp and might puncture through the pockets that are used to hold it in.

I regret every moment I am not flying this
I bought this for a young daughter who watched Mary Poppins and guilted me into trying something I hadn't done in decades: stop being amazing and instead go fly a kite. What I didn't realize was that -- and hopefully I'm not laying it on too thick here -- this is the greatest freaking kite in the history of everything.First off, it takes all of 15 seconds to assemble. All you have to do is attach the streamers and slide a flexible crossbar into it to expand the wings (edges? grabberts? I don't know kites). That's it. Second, the thing practically leaps out of your hands in the slightest breeze and away you go, making you look like a superhero to your kids and a good provider who obviously owns several expensive racecars to any passing ladies. The first time I held it up in the air I didn't even need to run, it just started flying as if the planet itself were rotating away beneath our feet. It flies, man. It flies all day long. Even if it crashes, you can actually just pop it back into the air with a clean jerk on the string. Everything in life should be this easy. At the same time, it also comes with a child-friendly handle that makes it easy for them to manage altitude or just run around like giggling lunatics. I seriously wish I were flying my kite right now, it's not even funny. I'm leaving my job early today at risk to my career because of a kite, and you can't stop me.

Good kite
Given that I have little to no experience flying kites, this is a pretty simple kite. Have taken it out once so far and spent about an hour trying to get it to fly and couldn't, mostly because there is not a very clear indication on where to tie the string. Will give it another go. Seems to be made of sturdy stuff.

WONDERFUL
My three-year-old daughter wanted very badly to fly a kite after hearing "Let's Go Fly A Kite" from "Mary Poppins." My experience with kites as a kid myself was limited to cheap ones from the drug store or that came as free promotions with other things. I don't recall ever getting one off the ground.Which is why taking this one to a local park and watching it fly up in the air was truly a magical experience for both of us. Easy to assemble (just insert the other cross piece in the little pockets on the side corners, and tie the string on), easy to disassemble (I took the time to wind up the long tail, but it probably would have been fine if I'd just stuffed it in the bag), and no problem whatsoever getting it into the air. Having my 6'4" husband along to run it for us probably helped. We were on a field on the top of a hill, probably 10-15 MPH breeze.Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Even my two-year-old twins wanted to hold the string (which we let them, carefully-- I didn't know kites pulled so hard!). Can't praise this kite enough. If you have no experience with kites but really want to go fly one-- anyone, any age-- this is the kite for you.

Maybe I missed something....
I read the reviews and this kit sounded ok for my grandkids to learn with. Ages 8 and 11 . We tried it the first day with 7 mph winds and it did get up into the sky but did not stay long. We then tried it with 20 mph winds and it seemed to be too windy. Then the plastic sticks broke through the corners and that was that. I would not purchase this kite again. Off to find a kite store that understands the weather and wind patterns where we live.

Nice and easy flyer
Excellent and easy to fly kite. In more moderate breezes you will have to chase the kite a few steps when it dives (so it will turn upright again)

disappointed
Was disappointed with this kite as hard to keep it up in the air. Was purchased for 3 and 6 year old, and we had to do a lot of work.

Extremely satisfied
I was a bit weary as to the quality of the kite upon ordering but was pleasantly surprised upon opening and setting up the kite. It flew beautifully, with ease and we got it as high as we possibly could on our first outing with it. No complaints about quality here!
