It works great - so far. I've only used it once and it definitely saved some time dealing with the rind.The dog approves of the remaining half melon...after she finished drinking the watermelons blood, she marched proudly around the yard with her melon helmet [sorry, no pics of that].I am pretty sure I will have this tool mastered upon use #2.The only teeny suggestion I have is to make the slice lifting tong portions about 1/2 mm thicker and the handle portion about 1mm thicker. The reason is that depending on the state of ripeness of the melon ...some of the slices will want to either disintegrate or slide out of the tongs when lifting them out of the melon. It would transmit the force a lot better if it was slightly more rigid, by making it just slightly thicker it should flex less and lock onto various slices better[at least in theory].

The slicer fell apart before I was through with half a watermelon. The slicing part (I can't call it a blade, because it is just a round metal rod.) detached from one side of the tongs. I know I was using it correctly--I even watched a YouTube how to video, since no instructions come with it. I can pound the rod back into place and maybe get another slice cut before it falls apart again. Very disappointing. I really wanted this to work.Edit 7/9/16: After reading the above review, the seller sent me a replacement product. It came very quickly. The new cutter has held up well so far and I am pleased with it. I also appreciate the seller's desire to make this right.

This is a great deal. Not only do you get the watermelon slicer, but you also get a melon baller with a serrated end for zig zag cuts, 5 cute skewers with little watermelons on the end you hold in your hand, and a drawstring pouch to keep track of everything. I used the slicer yesterday. I did feel I needed to wrap a towel around the handle part for more comfort while cutting, but it did the job really well, easily slicing a large watermelon. Be sure you're pushing far enough to cut to the bottom of the melon. I was going too shallow at first. I haven't used the other items yet, but I definitely will! This vendor also provides excellent customer service and support, reaching out to me to see if I received and liked the items, advising me on how long I could hang onto a watermelon before it starts to go bad, and sending a PDF of the instructions. I'm very happy with this purchase and customer experience!

I think the jury is still out on this. I used it once and whiled it cut the watermelon fairly easily, it left a lot of the fruit still attached to the rind. Maybe a little more practice or a smaller melon would produce better results. It's pretty easy to use and it definitely reduced the time required to relieve an entire watermelon of its rind. I'd say it's worth having if you purchase it aware of its shortcomings.

UPDATED REVIEW - When I used this slicer for the first time, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. The second time, even better. HOWEVER, the third time I used it, it came apart! The slicer came apart from the knife. It's not that I didn't know how to use it. The product is very poorly made to come apart like that. I would return it if I could, but it's too late to do so. I am so disappointed. I will not buy again, nor will I suggest it to my friends.

Was really excited from the marketing materials on this. But kinda disappointed on the product. In the video and pictures, it looks so easy, but in real life its very very hard and i found myself using a regular knife to cut the watermelon instead of this tool. But hey its $10 bucks, so was worth a shot.

We have only used the cutter 1 time over the Fourth Of July, and I must say I was impressed. It cut very well. I used it cutting criss cross to make melon cubes. The cutter worked very well and I was surprised how good it cut through the melon. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of it but after that it worked like a champ. This slicer is well made and should last a long time. The bag, melon scoops and fruit forks were an added bonus. I have seen similar slicers like this one selling for more than double the price just for the slicer alone. Last but not least clean up was a breeze. I highly recommend this slicer.

Oh my goodness!!! I love this thing!! I bought this because we were prepping watermelon for a party for 100 and I did not want to cut all of that by hand! After reading all of the positive reviews I gave this one a try and I'm so glad I did. My daughter watched a video by The Crazy Russian Hacker on youtube about how to use one and gave me a tip, if you're wanting to cut cubes just turn the watermelon the other direction and run the slicer the opposite way after you make your first cuts. Voila! Cubes! The other thing I really liked was that all of the watermelon juice is kept inside the watermelon instead of all over my counter or table. Yea!!
