Seems to work without issue. I don't have another to compare accuracy but I haven't had any bad results when making temperature sensitive foods.

one day it randomly stopped working. screen had two letters on it. no idea what that could mean (not in documentation). also, the swivel part breaks very easily.

Described as instant read but takes over 10 seconds to stabilize.

I liked mine when I got it and I use it a lot. When I visited my 90-year-old mother I noticed she was having trouble seeing the small temperature screen on her thermometer, so I bought her this talking one. She loves it!

First one had to be read from straight on or from a low angle but almost could not see from above horizontal angle, then it stopped working after a week. It also read about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit too high in ice water and in boiling water (should read 32 degrees and 212 degrees respectively). Claimed to be +/- 1.0% so the boiling term was within spec but the freezing was over 5% high. They willingly accepted the return and I re-ordered. This one is a little better, reading 33.4 and 211.1 respectively so that's 4% high at freezing and 0.4% low at boiling. It also disagrees consistently with a room thermometer I have reading 1-2 degrees higher. The legibility is still poor when trying to read the LCF display at anything above straight on but from below horizontal is good contrast. It's fairly fast to get a reading at about 5 seconds in most cases. It was difficult to pull out from the latched shut position (friction catch near the tip so required sticking a fingernail behind the sharp point and pulling strongly). I filed the friction point a bit to eliminate that problem but now it won't stay firmly shut. That's not such a problem EXCEPT that if it opens even the TINIEST bit (1/16") it automatically turns on even if I had used the button to turn it off... so I have to leave it open after turning it off to avoid triggering it back on . I guess that part is my bad for a little too much filing. I don't care about the voice and would prefer quick and accurate It's fairly quick but not what I expected on accuracy.. Returning it again seems a gamble, and since I did file the plastic catch probably not fair. I measure my koi water with it mostly but also for cooking (after cleaning it off of course) so I'll just keep in mind it might be a degree too high. It does bug me though. ; )

I like how I turn it on and it shows me the temperature in the room. Works good it is fast.

After a few years it reads over 50 degrees too hot and cannot be recalibrated.

Broke after one use. The idea of it having a voice is good though. I would have loved it if it weren't so defective. I did order another one in hopes I just got a lemon the first time.
