I used a vintage, silver-plate large serving spoon to make this jewelry ring holder or tea bag dish. Look closely near the base of the handle and notice the tiny floral design. After cutting most of the handle off the spoon, I flattened the bottom of the bowl and smoothed the cut end of the handle. Because the bottom is flat the little dish sits securely on a surface. This tiny bowl holds loose coins, tiny trinkets, or is pretty all on its own. Hang your rings on the handle. It would work well in the kitchen for your used tea bag. I cleaned the piece of old silverware and polished it to a shiny luster. The surface is in very nice condition, creating a wonderful shiny patina. Many of the dark shadows are merely reflections of the area around my photo booth and not the actual metal. This unique dish transforms an old piece of silverware into something beautiful and useful. ** The longest part of the oval shaped bowl is 2 3/4 inches (70mm) and it is 2 inches (51mm) wide. The dish, including the handle, is 1 1/4 inches (38mm) tall.
