Chants to Awaken the Buddhist Heart

I really like this CD of chants by Lama Surya Das. I have read many of his books and it is a treat to hear his voice. I see in the other reviews of this CD that the music and drums accompanying the chanting is distracting and makes it less useful for meditation than it could be. I disagree. I have another CD of Tibetan chants and it is hard to distinguish the individual words of the chants even though the chants do not have a background music track. When I meditate it is in the ambient sound of the space that I am in and not with any music or other distractions. Undoubtedly, I am pronouncing the words incorrectly and not using the right tone or cadence. So be it (swaha).I recommend this CD to anyone who would like a highly listenable CD to listen to while contemplating a Buddhist path.

No matter how much you love an artist and have many of his/her albums, always listen to the sample tracks first. The Urban Groove stuff really destroyed it for me. I'm just deleting it. I normally listen to the samples first and didn't this time because I have many of his albums and love them all and have been a fan for decades.

When I sought this, I had no clue what to expect. Yet, hurriedly I played it and haven't stopped in the last few days. I will not hesitate to pursue and buy from the Seller as well as products: Lama Surya Das & Steven Halpern. Regarding this recording, chants and musical arrangements. I am very glad I own it now. Satisfied /AL/

I have fallen asleep to this every night for the past 2-3 years. I played it for some friends while on vacation, and they enjoyed it so much that I bought a copy for them.

they may not be the first two things you would blend, but this is beautiful! Fun, reverent, inspiring, peaceful, contemporary and the voice quality is beautiful. Traditional chant with a twist. You might also enjoy "Tibetan Incantations" by Red Beat and Lama Surya Das's book, "Awakening the Buddha Within".

I love this CD. Not really for meditation though, however, the music is really relaxing after a long day and helps me go to sleep. The case it came in had a small crack, probably acquired in the shipping process but this didn't alter the music experience, for I thought the disc had to been damaged as well.

I really like this album and listen to it very often. It is slow and meditative and creates a feeling of relaxation. I recommend this and almost anything else with Steven Halpern does he has very good orchestration.

This is the second time I have purchased this CD ( accidently spilled juice on first one). I love it because I am Buddhist and it has kinda a rock vibe to it.

Good quality sound .Obviously put together by two masters would recommend for tuning in your cultivation of awareness and pre meditation.

I have just listened to Chants To Awaken the Buddhist Heart,for the first time and I must say that it is a really good cd,full of feeling and very spiritual,being a practising Buddhist,I found the whole cd really inspirational,even the up beat tempo tracks. If you like chants then you will LOVE this cd!!Lama Surya Das has written many good books and this cd just adds to them.Many Blessings to all!

Masterpiece!!! This is a wounderfull piece of workfrom these very talented masters.It is a tmeless work for many generations to come.

Will definitely use this CD for my meditations and for my yoga classes when I become a certified yoga teacher.
