This thing is brilliant. My yard has turned into an absolute jungle and unfortunately I can't get any help to clean up, but this has helped a lot. I'm not a fan of power tools, a bit scared of them actually. But this is very simple and easy to use, and doesn't make too much noise either. It is far, far better than using a hand saw. And please use eye, and ear protection, and wear a good set of gloves as A safety precaution.

This is a minichain saw and needs using with care but makes good plunge cuts, works well as a saw in confined spaces (back of kitchen cabinets), works well as a pruning saw. Being a chain saw it will pull the blade into the cut and needs to be hung onto if you don't want that to happen. Compared to jig saw blades, replacement blades are expensive so care is needed not to damage the blade by twisting or running it into stone or metal - expensive lesson! I had to make cuts in some old decking, so I could break it out as all the metal fixture were rusted - It made the job so much easier than any other saw. When used to prune resinous wood, clean the body and blade before it sets like plastic, I didn't and it was a long job to clean out the blade - anther lesson leant... This is NOT a jigsaw replacement, it is it's own unique saw.

A lot of people don't get what this saw is good for. I do, and that's why I was willing to pay this much for a European tool with a 220 volt charger. I don't use it often, but it's a lifesaver in certain situations, and no other tool can do what it does. For instance, if you need to reach into a hard-to-get-to place like a stud or fire block inside a wall, to carve out part of the wood without damaging the whole wall. I recently installed a 24" octagonal window, cutting out the needed hole from the outside of the house. There was a diagonal brace and two fire blocks in the way. Most people would be stuck trying to do it with a reciprocating saw but if you've ever tried to plunge cut a 2X4 inside a wall using a reciprocating saw, you know the problem... the blade bangs around and bends. Even if you're able to drill a starter hole and insert the blade through it, the saw is just too big and awkward to make the cut. That's where this saw really shines, because it doesn't reciprocate. All cutting is in one direction, so you can easily point the tip into the middle of a board and plunge right through it. No bouncing or ruined blades. You can make as many cuts as you need to enlarge the hole to the size and shape you need. This may be to much money for the average DIYer to justify, but I've used this on three separate remodeling projects, and it's saved me a lot of time and frustration. True, it comes with a 220 volt charger, but it isn't that hard to rig up a temporary outlet out of your breaker panel or a dryer outlet to charge it up. They probably make a 120 volt charger for it, but I haven't taken the time to look.
