St James of London 100% all-natural Black Pepper & Lime Cream Tub

Just loaded up a new Astra superior platinum and cracked open my jar this morning. Warm water on face and badger hair brush just like the instructions suggested. dipped the tip of the brush in the cream on the inside of the lid... (though I will probably not anymore because of risk of contamination--a minor drawback of jar products). the cream lathered immediately on my face. the scent came immediately is fantastic! sort of a warm, lightly tingling, crispness with some mellow and manly spice. nothing harsh, nothing that says dimestore cologne. just a lightly Piper nigrum muskiness. I probably was on the wetter side, but it didn't seem to be a problem. I generally lightly cradle the brush to remove extra water but a shake or two might be in order. my first pass was surprisingly drama-free. I often have to re-lather and do a second shave to get all the stubble, but not today. this is probably the new blade, but also the great lubricity of the cream. it seemed to let me go back over an area without more lather and the blade just glided along happily. normally there would be sticking, stuttering, and lots of styptic stinging my face afterwards. I am really pleased. I don't shave every day and it's good to know this may let me get away with it without butchering my neck and chin. Only remaining test is to let my wife evaluate how my face feels and smells...

Fantastic cream... Small amount goes a really long way, the lather is thick as hell, really clean and smooth, washes off really easily, scent is awesome, spicy but not overpowering.

I have been wet shaving for 20 years! Nothing like this shaving cream. Its the only soft cream in the market. Quality is king! Great scent as well you wish that you could eat it!

Lime scent is subtle but noticeable. Very slick.

Update: returned the product for a replacement. Essentially the same result. Cannot recommend. More of a solid mass rather than cream. Likely has been sitting in a warehouse for a while.

I've used this product for shaving for several years and love it. This shipment, though, the jar was smashed with lots of glass shards in the shaving soap. Not exactly the thing for one's face!

I ordered this without any idea of what it might smell like. I figured if I didn't like it, I could always try again. But I accidentally ordered two jars. When the order came, I was worried that I would end up with a lot of shaving cream that I wouldn't like, but no worries. This shaving cream has a nice smell. I would add that, unlike many other shaving creams, the aroma seems to last a long time. It's a soft shaving cream, which is something I usually avoid. Past experience with the shaving creams from other companies has shown a disturbing lack of consistency in products. Thick sometimes; soft as soup at others. The jar I received is a little soft for my taste, but not as absurdly soft was some other products I've tried. How true this is of the rest of their line, I can't say. The other downside to these soft creams is that you won't get nearly as many shaves as you will with a hard soap. As for performance, the St. James cream is very good. It shaved smoothly and left a nice slickness on my face for the final touches. I whole heartily recommend this product.

St. James of London Black Pepper & Lime has terrific scent and develops a nice thick lather. 5-star for the product. My issue is with how Amazon handled the packaging. I ordered two separate St. James products and both boxes were placed together in an envelop. Both boxes were torn and product shifted considerable in the Florida heat. 1-star for the packaging and handling.
