Excellent replacement part
Excellent replica of original part. BMW e36 door handle surrounds do not "snap in". They are held in by the top two hooked tabs that are locked in place by a slider inside the door that is part of the door handle mechanism. Pic1, On the edge of the door, lift the rubber flap to the access hole. pic2, there is a sheet metal flap (left yellow outline) part of the door shell that hides/obscures the end of the metal slider. The right side yellow outline is part of the angled door handle mechanism. pic3, you need some hooked tool to reach behind the metal flap and get in front of the slider. pic4/5 Place the hooked tool in front of the slider and push the slider away from you, toward the front of the car. You will not be able to see the end of the slider behind the metal flap, but will have to "feel" for it with the hooked tool. pic 5, if you can get behind the slider and push forward with about 1/2 inch of movement, pic 6, the door handle surround will pop-out at the top. Tilt down to remove the old surround. pic 7, with the slider moved forward, the upper tab holes are "open". pic 8, insert new part with lower tabs first and rotate the surround up to align the upper tabs and holes. pic 9/10, Hold the top of the handle surround tight against the door so the top tabs are in the holes, then use the hooked tool to now pull the slider toward you or toward the rear of the car. The slide will move back about 1/2 inch and lock the upper surround tabs. pic 11, the tab hole will be closed, pic 12, the surround is installed. pic 13/14, very good quality part. Cannot comment on durability yet.

Do research
So to install these, there’s more then just a clip on... you have to remove the door panel, on top of the locking door handle there’s a metal plate that slides right to left. To install clip the old trim you have to push it to the right to open the clip. Then install the new ones, at this point it’s still going to be loose, so now push the metal clip to the left and then it should be a firm fit. All these reviews that are negative are probably from people who thought it was going to be a clip trim but there’s a lot more to install these. Do your research first

Almost very similar
Would be again but note they are not OE so replace them all unless you don’t mind them being different
