Mine "Does NOT Overwrite" either.
Scott is spot on. Mine does not overwrite either. Seller suggested formatting card on camera. Set record time. Still get SD CARD FULL after 4 or 5 days. My old spaceship model sells for $17 now. It lasted 5 years and looped as described.

Does NOT overwrite
It does not overwrite. What's the point if it can't continue to record over the previously recorded video on the SD card? It states "SD CARD FULL" and no longer records. Bummer, because the video quality was good.

4.5 Stars -- not true HD but a decent dash cam for the price!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This review is in two parts. The video goes through, in detail, the different menu options available in video mode, camera mode, and under general settings. If you are looking for sample footage shot with the dash cam, please fast forward to the 8 minute mark in the video. The video review also covers some tips on operating the camera and choosing the optimal settings. In the written review below I go over the pros and cons of the dash cam.***PROS AND CONS***Pros:- Extensive set of features and settings for under $30: options include motion detection, Gsensor, Exposure settings, ISO settings, etc. (see video for coverage of all the available options).- Ability to record both photos and videos.- Spring loaded TF card slot makes life so much easier when taking out your micro SD cards!- Strong and reliable suction mount ensures that your dash cam stays put.- Included car charging cable is over 10 feet long!- Dash cam is very easy to operate and settings are easy to navigate.- LCD screen is sharp, clear and vivid.- Wide angle on the camera lens captures both sides of the driving lanes.- There is an AV out port through which you can hook up an external mike.- Sound recording is optional and can be turned off.- Videos are smooth and clear and there is no motion blurring or shaking.Cons:- Video quality is not truly 1080p -- it closer to 720p (see end of video review for sample footage).- No true Night Vision. Night vision enhances video taken in the evening or on well lit streets at night but does not really work in pitch darkness.Nitpicks:- Plastic buttons sometimes “stick” and don’t register a click unless you press again in the middle.- Some features, such as “anti-shake” or “lane detection warning” do not work or are not usable for the U.S.- No mini USB charging cable included that you can hook up to your computer or to a wall charger. As most cell phones nowadays use the micro USB port, finding a mini USB cable in your stash might not be easy.- No GPS or WiFi feature -- but keep in mind that this unit costs under $30!- All plastic construction -- but unit feels sturdy enough.- Battery life is very short -- less than 30 minutes. However, the unit is meant to be operated while being hooked up to your car charger.***CONSTRUCTION AND BUILD QUALITY***The body of the dash cam seems to be made entirely out of plastic. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the unit feels solid and sturdy as a whole, but the buttons do tend to “stick” every so often. The camera unit itself is 2.75” x 2.50” x 1.25” and weighs only 53 grams. The large LCD screen on the back is very bright and vivid. The resolution is high enough to clearly see the video and photos you are taking. The unit uses a mini USB port to charge and also includes an HDMI and AV port. There is no internal memory, and all videos and photos are recorded onto a micro SD card. The TF card slot itself is spring loaded which makes swapping out cards a breeze!I was very pleased with the suction mount included with the camera. It is very strong and once applied to your windshield it is unlikely to budge even through strong jolts or shakes. To give you an example: once “locked” into place, I wasn’t able to yank it out no matter how hard I pulled on it. I was also very happy with the included car charging cable. It is 10 feet long, allowing you to easily mount the camera where you want on your windshield.***VIDEO AND PHOTO QUALITY***The video quality fell short of the 1080p claim. The sample footage included in the video review gives you an idea of the video quality. Videos looks nice if they are in a small window -- i.e. standard YouTube size -- but when you try to watch them in full screen mode (i.e. 21” monitor) there is noticeable blurring and some pixelation. That is not to say that the video footage is bad or unusable. You can clearly see what is going on but just not in HD. I would say the video quality is closer to 720p.Nighttime video quality is closer to 480p. This is video taken with the “night mode” on and while driving on well lit streets or highways. Video taken without streetlights, i.e. in near total darkness, even with “night mode” on is very grainy.Photos are a different story. I haven’t uploaded any sample photos taken with the camera because I couldn’t find a sample that was good enough to use. Perhaps it is the wide angle lens, or camera shake, but all the photos came out blurry.***USABLE OPTIONS AND SETTINGS***There are many different options and settings on this dash cam -- which is very surprising given the low price. So I was curious to see how many of these features actually worked and how many were more marketing namesakes. Here are my conclusions:*Motion Detection* This is a REAL feature and yes it works very well! The camera uses the IR light on the front to detect motion. During testing I mounted the camera to the windshield of my car and walked repeatedly in front of the car to see if the motion detector was triggered. When you are within 6 feet of the camera -- this translates to approximately 2-3 feet from the hood of the car -- the motion detector turns on very easily and records for 10 seconds. Recordings last longer if you are still moving around in front of the camera. From the 6 feet to 12 feet range the motion detector was not triggered every time consistently. It works best if you are constantly moving around -- as you are more likely to catch the IR beam -- but just walking by quickly in the front is not enough. Beyond 12 feet the motion detector was not triggered.*White Balance Settings*This feature works well to manage light settings when moving from outdoors to indoors. I feel it does a pretty good job of minimizing the yellowish tint or hue you get when you are shooting indoors with incandescent light bulbs.*ISO Settings*This feature is available for photos only. It seems to help marginally when taking photos in less than optimal settings -- the images appear artificially brighter. But the major problem with photos seem to be the “blurriness” as mentioned above.*Exposure Settings*This is a REAL feature and is available for both videos and photos. It does a decent job in making your photos or videos brighter or in giving more contrast. But at each extreme end (basically beyond +/- 1) the quality of the the video gets compromised.*G-sensor*This is a REAL feature. The purpose of this feature is to turn on the “lock protection” for videos when the camera is jolted (i.e. sudden braking) so that the video that is being recorded cannot be looped over or erased. Note: for this feature to “turn on” or work properly, you must already be recording video. During testing, I set the threshold as “2G” and gave a sharp jolt to the camera by hand and the feature turned on promptly.*Parking Mode*This is a REAL feature. It works and should be set as follows: under the General Setting, scroll down to “parking mode”. Select the level of shock that would trigger the recording: 2G to 8G. In Video Mode, press the red P button to turn on the parking mode feature. A “P” inside of a square box is displayed on the LCD screen. Turn the unit off. If the camera feels a strong enough jolt or shake, it turns on, records for 20+ seconds, and shuts down again. While the feature works, I wouldn’t count on it to get triggered with your average ding or bumps to your car -- i.e. parked in a grocery store and the errant cart hits your car. I had to shake the camera quite vigorously for it to turn on. For “ding watch” I would use the motion detection feature. But even with that -- you are limited by the camera’s front facing IR sensor. But then again, did I mention that this unit comes in under $30? The fact that you have working parking mode and motion detection features is great!***TL;DR***Overall, this is a very decent dash cam that is jam packed with a host of features that really work (albeit imperfectly) Given the price point of this unit, under thirty at the time of this review, it is a good unit to pick up if you are in the market for a dash cam and are on a tight budget. The video quality, though not HD, is good enough to record events clearly. This would be a great camera to mount to your bike and take footage of scenic beach rides or hiking trails. Or use this dash cam as a webcam for your computer.***I received a discount or a complimentary sample on this item in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.******If you found this review to be helpful I'd appreciate it if you could give it a thumbs up!******Questions?
