Contour Folding Shower Seat in Teakwood or Walnut (26 x 16, teakwood with stainless steel frame)

I would like to share 2 things. 1. the bottom part of the seat slopes down between 5 and 10 percent. It is noticeable. I think it may be to have the water run off of it. The back was perfectly level against the wall. Checked with a fancy level. 2. The description says it is 26 inches wide. This is not true. With the 2 round chrome gizmos on each side of the seat, it is 26 1/2 to 27 inches wide. This made me sad because my finished shower is only 28 inches wide. It fit, but barely. Sad I say.

Finally our new shower is finished and the teak folding seat installed! It is terrific. We had seen a similar one in a plumbing showroom and thought we would order it but ended up not getting our fixtures from this particular place, so didn't order the seat either. The showroom where we did buy our fixtures had a folding seat but it was designed with multiple wood slats, and for whatever reason it just did not look as attractive--though it was as pricey as the one we had seen at the first showroom. I decided to look online instead and turned up this one. I read the reviews to make sure it wasn't a cheese-y knock off because it looked like the first one we had seen yet was a lot less expensive. We decided to order it, saved a lot of money over the showroom price, and both my husband and I have to say it is just great. It is definitely comfortable to sit on. The teak looks beautiful with our tile, which is a warm-toned blend of marbled beige and cream. Our fixtures are brushed nickel and so the hardware of this seat matches that well. As someone mentioned in a review, it is stiff pulling down or putting back up, but not obnoxiously so. I would say that stiffness is a good thing, so the seat is not falling down when you want it up. I also like the feature whereby the wall slats lift out so you can clean behind the wall when you need to. We highly recommend it--I can't speak to durability since we have only had it a couple of months, but it certainly seems built to last.

So far, I LOVE this seat. It looks exactly like the picture and it functions as designed. I feel very comfortable and secure in this seat as we mounted it as instructed with extra supports behind the tiled shower wall. I was renovating my bathroom which was the perfect time to install this so I could add the supports. I am disabled and on the heavy side so I wanted a seat that was beautiful and functional instead of using the old hospital style shower bench I was previously using. This adds a wonderful style to the bath and I feel safe using it. Definitely add the supports in the wall, even if you have to remove a couple pieces of tile and replace them. You can download the instructions prior to doing that so you know the exact spot. By the way, it was very easy to install it. The seat is stiff as far lowering and raising it but I would rather have it that way instead of easily falling down. I will add some WD-40 to help with that problem after I double-check the instructions to be sure there is not another method to do it.

What a great seat! We did a lot of looking for a shower seat that would be durable and well built. This is it! Works great for larger sized people. My son weighed 300+ pounds when this was first installed. He has since lost some weight and now weighs around 275. Continues to be a safe and functional shower seat for him.

Great product, just had it installed in my new walk-in shower and it looks great.Would be nice if there were some information on how to maintain the teakwood.
