Easy to Install vertically on a single stud. Provides stability while dressing
This was purchased to be placed near the bathroom shower. It is safe, easy grab area to be used while dressing or undressing. It provides stability and security. It was easy to install on one vertical wall stud. The mounting flange for this unit made that possible and easy. With the varied positions of the holes, I was able to drill three 2-inch screws into one stud at both the upper and lower mounting piece. The screws toward the outside of the stud are angled slightly to allow them to really bite into the more central part of the stud. The cap piece covered the screw heads in spite of being angled. With 6 screws into the one stud, the grab bar is rock solid and no wobble. Nothing will cause this to fail ( I hope}Although this was added as a basic dressing aid, within 3 months a member had a problem with the onset of vertigo and it was definitely beneficial to have this in place. Another was then installed I in the toilet area to provide assistance going from a standing to a seated position and back to a standing position. I am considering another to be installed near the guest bedroom shower. The screws are heavy duty stainless and excellent. I did have some problem screwing them down as my screwing bit was a little worn. You really need to predrill the holes into the stud just a tad smaller than the diameter of the screws. The screws need to bite into the wood, so they do not pull out. If you have problems putting the screws into your pre-drilled holes in the stud, back-out the screw and apply dish detergent liquid on the threads or rub a bar of soap over the thread. It lubricates the threads. and may be enough to assist getting the screw into position. The screws are a larger diameter, and my best guess is a size "10". As I said these are heavy duty babes. Although I did cam-out while putting in the screw, the screw head was not damaged. Good screws! The price for the 12 inch grab bar was great, less than 14 bucks. Since both ends of this grab bar were placed in one vertical stud, I only used screws. This unit does not come with the heavy duty securemount that is used for support when the ends are placed into drywall. The drywall mount must be purchased separately. If you mount horizontally, I would suggest placing one end into a stud. The other could be supported with a securemount into the drywall. That saves you the price of one securemount which costs a little over $11,

Strong and attractive
I have installed a number of these in two baths in my home. I have found them easy to install and very professional appearing. However, I recently installed another one and found that the screws are now rather soft and easily stripped, which has not been the case in the past. As long as you are able to screw a medium length screw into a stud you should be able to install this, however now I also recommend that you purchase high quality screws of approximately the same length and diameter as the ones supplied by Moen that will be less likely to strip if you use a power driver. These grab bars are essential to my safety, and I am pleased to recommend them but I would say that the screw quality has slipped a bit of late.

It was perfect!
I was replacing a safety grab bar in my bathroom and found this one. It was just what I needed and I installed it in less than 20 minutes. It's good-looking, rugged and most of all safe!

Heavy duty, top quality
And the wider screw placement design makes for a more solid installation. Nice job, Moen! This is a true brass color -- different than Moen's gold color. It's smooth all around though, so we decided to use another brand with a textured grip for our elder parent's shower. We'll gladly use this elsewhere.

Top quality but the provided screws are the wrong choice
High quality grab bar and nice peened finish on grab area. The screws supplied, while long enough to penetrate 1/2 inch drywall and into studs or "2 x" blocking in wall, have a phillips head. There is no possible way to drive the screw into the wood studs because a phillips bit will just "cam out" of the screw head. I tried pre-drilling the hole (not too big of diameter) to help and put some soap on the screw threads. But still, "cam out" occurred before I could get the screw all the way in. I ditched the supplied screws and used star head drive deck screws with a small washer under the head (because the slot in the flange was maybe a little wide for those type of flat head screws.) Using a cordless drill and a star bit, I had no issues driving the screws home. Be careful not drive it too far in so as to crush the drywall! My recommendation to Moen is to get a little wiser about the type of screws provided with these. Changing the screw type wouldn't cost hardly anything more. The installers would be much appreciative of this

Quality solid bathroom grab bar.
These grab bars are very well made with good thick quality stainless steel. When put into a stud they are extremely solid and will be very sturdy. I have installed 3 of them for an elderly person to more easily enter and exit a bathtub and they all work just as intended. The peened finish also helps with grip much better than a polished finish. I would highly recommend these if you need a vertical grab bar. The size might limit being able to install them horizontally unless you have 12 inch spaced studs.

12” length great for vertical installation
We had a very narrow place on the walls so needed a vertical installation. The 12” was perfect. Nice quality for the price!
