Excellent quality l-theanine. Keeps me in a good mood.
This is excellent quality L-theanine and a great price. The dosage is just right and the capsules are not too big to swallow. I take one every morning with my coffee and it gives me energy and focus with a slight calming effect as well. It works like a very mild anti-depressant without any of the side effects. It does not make me sleepy, but I do feel a sense of calm. They make my anxiety far better and I am able to focus on my tasks without worrying too much. My wife takes it too and she says that it helps her to eat less. Maybe it helps me crave less sugar because it is reducing my anxiety. Excellent product and I recommend it for people who have anxiety and low energy and need a little pick me up. Some people experience sleepiness when first trying L-theanine so you might want to try it in the evening if you are a first time user of L-theanine products. It can help you get a better night's sleep. Overall, it is a great product and can be helpful for many people for multiple purposes. Mood support is my main use of this and I love it! It makes me feel great! I highly recommend trying this product! It is very high quality and a great price.

good
This L-Theanine supplement is a great option for promoting calm and focus without causing drowsiness. The 200 mg dose feels effective for easing stress, reducing anxiety, and helping with mental clarity during the day. It’s gentle on the stomach, easy to take, and works well on its own or alongside caffeine to smooth out jitters. With 120 vegetarian capsules in the bottle, it’s a good value and a reliable choice for daily relaxation and focus support.

Helps in relaxation, not energy
These worked a little too well for me. The only benefit I experienced was significant drowsiness and the ability to fall asleep quickly at night. For someone who typically needs four to six cups of espresso a day just to function, that is actually saying something. That said, my original intent was not to use this as a sleep or relaxation aid. I purchased this supplement as a more affordable alternative to the daily matcha drinks I had replaced espresso with. Matcha gave me sustained energy and mental clarity without jitters or a crash, but the cost adds up quickly as a daily habit. Since this supplement is advertised as containing the primary active component found in matcha, I expected similar results. Instead, the effect was very different. Matcha never made me feel relaxed or drowsy, while this supplement consistently did. Because of that, I fully believe it works well as a calming or de-stress aid. However, based on my experience, the energy and focus claims do not hold true.

L-Theanine is a non-sedative, feel better aid to relieve stress.
I have been using Nature’s Trove L-Theanine for 4 years for my competition dogs and myself. This brand carries the GMP seal, it is made in America, and is reasonably priced. L-Theanine is one of the active ingredients in most calming aids for dogs, but in a smaller dose than this product. L-Theanine is an amino acid that acts as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor to promote relaxation and stress relief. You can find many websites that discuss its safety and efficacy. There are times when I go to bed and can’t stop thinking about the endless list of tasks I need to get done. That’s when I take L-Theanine. It is not a sedative and I am unaware of its action. I just feel better and fall asleep faster.

Helps me stay calm and focused—natural ease without drowsiness
I've always enjoyed green tea for its calming effect, so when I found Nature’s Trove L-Theanine 200 mg, I thought: "Why not try it in capsule form to get the benefits more conveniently?" I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, primarily to ease tension during busy workdays and improve my sleep quality. ✅ What I noticed: Gentle, focused calm without sleepiness: I take one capsule mid-afternoon when stress peaks. It helps me feel centered again—without any grogginess or lack of mental clarity. The experience feels smooth and natural. Consistent energy and mental edge: Later in the day, I find myself less distracted and more thoughtful in decision-making. Rather than overwhelming energy, it brings subtle calm. I combine it occasionally with magnesium for enhanced effect. Clean formulation with trusted sourcing: Vegetarian capsules, made in a GMP- and NSF-certified facility in the USA. No artificial colours or fillers, and the price is under $10 per bottle (about $0.08 per cap). ⚠️ Things I’d mention to others: May be too subtle for some: If you’re looking for sleep aids or powerful sedatives, this isn't it. It’s designed for calm focus—mild but steady. Check meds interactions: If you take SSRI antidepressants, MAOIs, or other medications affecting blood flow or neurotransmitters, consult a healthcare provider before use. amazon.com.au Capsule size: Easy to swallow most days, but larger capsules could be a minor issue for some. 🏁 Would I recommend it? ✅ Yes, if: You want a clean, natural supplement to help with calm and mental clarity. You're sensitive to stimulants but still want to stay alert. You value transparency in ingredient sourcing and cost. ❌ Not ideal if: You expect instant, strong sedation. You have certain medication concerns or medical conditions that might interact.

I purchased these when I was suffering anxiety as something to help me. I found that the supplements helped me out and reduced the feeling of being anxious and improved my mental well-being. Placebo effect? Maybe - maybe not. In the interest of providing factual and responsible information this extract about L- theanine from Wikipedia is provided: Theanine is sold as a dietary supplement and is considered to be safe at doses up to 250 milligrams (mg) by the US Food and Drug Administration.[4][7] The European Food Safety Authority found there was insufficient evidence for a cause-and-effect relationship between theanine consumption and improved cognitive function, alleviation of psychological stress, maintenance of normal sleep, or reduction of menstrual discomfort.[8] End extract.

Ok so if you don’t know HPPD is Hallucinogenic perpetual perception disorder… this causes continuous visual disturbance such as a staticky visual snow that is always present. Various causes but most common is from using psychedelic drugs. Before you stop reading and say “serves him right” I actually developed HPPD after my first ever experience with LSD when I was 20 years old. This is unusual, typically people develop HPPD after extended repeated drug use. I’m now 41, so my vision has been heavily distorted and different from what it should be for over 2 entire decades. No doctor I have ever spoken too about this has ever shown any interest in helping me and the usual reaction is “well you did this to yourself and clearly it is not that bad if you have had it for so long” Well actually it is that bad, so bad in fact that if “the man” ever bothered to understand how bad, they would very likely disqualify me from driving (before you judge, I’ve had 21 years learning to live with this visual aspect, I am in no way risking myself or anyone else whilst driving, I just had to re-learn every aspect of my life that relied on my Vision to incorporate this new visual aspect) Anyway, I’ve spent much of my adult life, researching this condition, learning from other suffers experiences and reading the very limited amount of actual legitimate research that has been done to understand and hopefully find a cure. The general consensus everywhere I look is that this far, this condition can start after 1 or 1000 psychedelic experiences… it can stop at random (most suffers say symptoms last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, rarely it can last for several years) I have only found one other sufferer that has lived with the condition for as long as I have. So far HPPD is considered incurable, untreatable and can last an indeterminate length of time. Well I spent years experimenting on myself with so Many kinds of chemicals searching for a cure or at least a way to Reduce my severe symptoms. By accident I found that approx 1/5 times I used DMT I would have zero visuals instead my HPPD would turn off and I would see reality Unencumbered by my HPPD. However the effects would return after 15-20mins when the DMT began to wear off. Further testing I found that magic mushrooms had the same effect, low doses approx 1g of dried mushroom would give me about 8 hours of zero HPPD vision. Above 1g the HPPD would still turn off but I would also begin to actually trip making this an unsuitable daily way to manage my HPPD. The fact mushrooms and DMT are both tryptamines inspired me to become more creative in my search for a cure/treatment. I started looking into other less know tryptamines (less known publicly but not these brand new designer drugs that pop up regularly, the tryptamines I was experimenting with have been around since the 60’s and 70’s but are just not easily available and therefore often over looked by the psychedelic community) I found some interesting success especially with 4-HO-MET and 4-ACO-DET to name a few. These would turn my HPPD off for the duration of the trip, however if I ignored every dosing guideline I came across (a heavy dose is considered to be between 40-60mg) after well over a year of self experimenting (with a close friend as my die hard trip buddy) I weighed the pros and cons and started experimenting with doses that I cannot find any reference online to any other person ever trying. I increased the 4-HO-MET dose from 60mg to 80mg to 100mg and eventually settling upon approx 400-500mg and taking 3 seperate doses over the course of the experience. This as usual ended my HPPD but unlike lower doses where the HPPD is fully back by the time you wake up after the trip ends. These very high (and highly Unrecommended) doses actually seemed to leave my HPPD completely off for 4-5 days after I awoke following the trip. This was amazing and I finally thought I was on to a potential treatment/cure… Problem is taking 1000-1500mg of a psychedelic with a recommended max dose of 50-60mg as a long term treatment didn’t seem like the best of Ideas. Ok you kind of up to date at this point so… L-Theanine… I heard of this supplement as a potential aid to help giving up smoking. So I ordered some hoping for The best but sceptical. Whilst waiting for the shipment I found some further research regarding HPPD treatment using l-theanine. I figured since I was trying it to quit smoking I would monitor the effects on my HPPD. The reading I did showed “some” limited success treating sufferers of long term HPPD using l-theanine, the results became noticeable to suffers after approx a year of taking the supplement. So I started using the supplement approx 2-3 months ago. I would take 200mg every morning, importantly I am prescribed dexamphetamine and would take my morning dose (approx 20-30mg up to 60mg depending on how I felt that day) at the same time. Then as per my morning ritual I would head off and grab a large coffee. That morning happened to be a bright sunny day… my HPPD is more pronounced during these periods or in low light and dark situations. Within an hour of starting my day I began noticing everything looking distinctly different. Now usually when I’m actually experimenting with my HPPD I am able to notice any differences almost immediately. As I was not doing that this morning it took a moment for my brain to register what was happening. An hour after taking 200mg of l-Theanine my HPPD was at 90-99% weaker than it usually is. I’m stating those numbers as it was not 100% gone but was so minor that it barely registered at all. I was blown away. At first I wasn’t sure what had caused such a significant impact… I was on multiple supplements and was trying a smokable herb called Rose Lily at the same time. I knew something I had taken had, had a massive impact on my HPPD, I had to find out exactly what was causing the effect. So I stripped away all supplements except naturally occurring chemicals such as magnesium, zinc, calcium/K2 and tried each of the new supplements one at a time monitoring the results. When I got to l-Theanine it was instantly clear it was this supplement causing the HPPD to go away. I would take the 200mg dose between 7-8am and the effects were very obvious for at least 10-12 hours. As the sun set and dark rolled in, then I would begin to notice the HPPD gradually return over the next few hours. I repeated the experiment multiple times with the exact same positive results. The fact it started to wear off around the 10-12 hour mark I decided to try a second 200mg dose later in the day. This second dose behaved very differently, I didn’t see a noticeable reduction in my HPPD instead I experienced a massive spike in unusual, unexpected anxiety that I do not usual suffer. This seemed confusing, I researched l-theanine further… I could find no one online that was having similar experiences to mine. Looking into the supplement further I found that it had a very interesting interaction with stimulants both potentiating them and the l-theananine being potentiated by them and altering the supplements effects. As mentioned I take dexamphetamine every day and have a large coffee every morning. More experimenting confirmed that the interaction between l-theanine and stimulants (in my case dexamphetamine and caffeine) was causing the effective treatment of my HPPD. If I took the supplement with zero stimulants it would trigger a massive bout of anxiety. Very strange findings but I have now been effectively treating my HPPD (remember I have suffered this for over 20 years!!!) for the past few months with massive, for me at least, life changing positive results. I’ve tried the treatment on other sufferers of HPPD that have the condition at a far lesser severity than I do and they do not seem to be getting the same massive benefits that I get (although they all experienced some degree of positively noticeable impacts) The important ingredient here is a fairly high amount of stimulants to interact with the supplement. For me I take a varying amount of dexamphetamine each day depending on how I’m feeling but a minimum of 30mg and a large coffee seems to be needed in order for the effects to work. Anyway, this is a miracle treatment for me, it’s 100% repeatable, but the stimulants are key which I realise will not be readily available to everyone (I’m not sure if caffeine alone is sufficient to get the desired results) Also the effects for me were noticeable after just a single dose. Every other source I’ve found states any positive effects, if any, are seen after a year of taking the supplement, however none of these studies combined the supplement with a stimulant such as dexamphetamine. So I’m not promising this is a realistic treatment for everybody, but for me this is the end of a 21 year visual disconnect from reality. I am truly grateful, thankful and lucky to have stumbled upon this treatment. If there is a possibility it can help other sufferers then hopefully I can get this information available to them. I’m going to be posting this information on every platform I can in the hopes it may help someone who has also suffered this horrible condition. I always believed there was hope, even after 20 years, always believed it would be a chemical cure, just wasn’t expecting to buy the chemical from Amazon lol
