Still lovely, but not my favorite in the series
My daughter loves this series and loves this book, so it’s still a solid 4 stars but I find this to be the least well adapted story of the bunch. I absolutely understand making some changes for a younger audience (for example their changes to Swan Lake), but the changes were so broad here that it impacted the flow of the story in my opinion. I also don’t know why they chose the piece they did for Papageno instead of his extremely famous and well loved leitmotif, very strange decision to me.

Stunning Illustrations, Sparks a Love of Classic Musicals
This is always requested at bedtime or taken off the shelf constantly, from beginning to end, the illustrations are beautiful, fun and detailed. I will be adding more to our book collection, my kids love it and helps create a stepping stone to discovering a love of classic musicals.

Great introduction to the Magic Flute
Our 6 year old granddaughter, who is going to her first opera (The Magic Flute) in a few weeks, was entranced by the book and the musical snippets.

My four-year-old granddaughter's favorite book!
The book buttons are a little difficult for my Granddaughter to push but she has memorized the music. She loves this book and is going with her Dad to see the Portland Symphony adaptation of the story this month.

It has become one of my granddaughters favorite books
Well, they have simplified the story But my granddaughter loves the artwork. I got this book as a way to introduce her to classical music, and that has been an outstanding success. She loves playing the musical snippets over and over.on her own, and recognizes themes when she hears them in a commercial or TV show, particularly the queen of the night’s aria. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include more music, and longer snippets!

Great book!
I love the story orchestra books! My girls love pushing the buttons to hear the music. The Magic Flute is a fun opera and it’s neat to have a story orchestra book that does an opera. Still, having opera songs is a little tricky since the pieces include singing and it’s not as easy listening to a song that includes German words. But it’s still fun to listen to.

Fun books for kids
My grand children love these books. We have the others already - Nutcracker, Carnival of the Animals, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty. All 5 stars. Even the 2 1/2 year old hums the themes and easily identifies the part of the story it relates to.In the Magic Flute -only 4 stars because it doesnt include the PaPaPaPa-gano song that is so charmingly funny in the opera or the Zorastro aria that goes so very low. I have seen 2 Magic Flute productions for kids - one in France and one in Germany and those 2 numbers along with the Queen of the Night elicited squeals of delight and laughter from the kids.

The weakest link in the whole series
The sound quality was poor on this particular book, but that might just be a blip in production. The main issue was that story just didn’t flow for me and was quite jarring as it was different to what I had grown up with. The music clips weren’t the best either. Even the illustrations, although still beautiful, just weren’t as outstanding as others in the series. It was quite disappointing because the other books in the series are just perfect.

Introduce youngster to this wonderful opera
I gave this as a Xmas preteen to my great niece who is 2. Her mother thought it was a great way to introduce her daughter to her favourite opera. Start them young! And the 2 year old is charmed by the sort and pressing the appropriate for each character and bit.
