Set of 2 Epee Body Cords for Fencing Sport - Clear Ends with Clear Wire

Perfect .. they work like a charm

These body cords are inexpensive and work well for a limited time. However, you get what you pay for. They are much less durable than the more expensive name brands (Linea, Allstar, Uhlmann, Leon Paul, etc.). My kids fence three days a week and they have body cord problems about once a month. That makes it by far the biggest source of equipment trouble for them, and they have missed touches during tournaments when these cords broke.The biggest issue is that the wire is made of what appears to be aluminum filament. Filament is good, as I think it makes the cord more flexible, but the aluminum means that it does not stand up to repeated bending. I bent the wire manually to test it and was able to get about 100 bends before it broke. That number is a problem, as body cords get bent a lot. More durable cords are made of copper and some are even silver coated.The other issue is that the connector pins can get narrower from repeated use. The problem comes from the design - the pins look like flower buds about to open. Initially the leaves on the buds are springy and expand to give a good connection, but eventually they get compressed and become too narrow. The narrowness can result in a flaky or broken connection - and more missed touches. Quality body cords have a design that are much less prone to this issue.These body cords are about half the cost of the nicer ones, but if you plan on using them for anything longer than six months, it is well worth it to get something better.
