Playing Card Divination and Fortune Telling: The Magi Method Paperback – November 26, 2015

This is by far the best book that I have read on divination using playing cards. I have read many and none of them really worked for me. I have been reading the Tarot for over 20 years and that is what has been comfortable for me.I have an old deck that was handed down to me from my Grandmother who received them when she was young from her aunt. My deck is at least 100 yrs old and never used for anything but reading the cards. I sooooo wanted to use this deck. I feel my Grandmother's spirit in them. I put them aside because I just couldn't find a system that worked well for me until now. Joseph Magi's method is so easy to learn. I started reading accurately right away and don't have to flip through the book to look up meanings. My cards speak to me.Joseph also has a Facebook group which is a lot of fun and you can learn along with other readers. His videos on YouTube are fantastic. I do not see any bias in the readings he did. The cards say what they say. It is honestly hard to bend the meanings. Tarot it is easier to bend the meanings to what you want the cards to say, but in the playing cards, it is more difficult because they are pretty much blunt in their meaning. One reviewer said that Joseph's readings were bias (ex: about Trump) I just feel that maybe they didn't like what the cards message was. I did not see any "bending" of the meanings.Yes, the deck and book have a Christian tone to them. But again, that is at the reader's discretion. To me, it makes the system more spiritual. I love the feelings I receive when reading with his system. I do have his deck on order and should have them in a day or so. I will use both his deck and that which my Grandmother gave me. Any who.... you don't have to use Christian meanings per say... just use the keywords and let your intuition guide you.I highly recommend this book and his deck too for anyone wanting to expand their divinatory tool box. I will still use my Tarot too, but let the Divine tell me which to use, but so glad I bought this book. The playing cards work best with specific questions. I find that my Tarot cards work better for me on every day general readings with no question in mind.

This warm and friendly book reminds the reader of cartomancy's roots as a revered tool for understanding our world and ourselves. Despite later attempts to revile it, it was a tool used by the Magis themselves, the ones who with shepherds, and not priests, visited the ultimate Magus, Jesus, at the time of his birth. The book assures us that we are rightful inheritors of this knowledge, and then, step by step the author walks us through how to use his system. The learning is incremental, with exercises that build on accrued knowledge and make clear the questions and circumstances for which the reading of cards may be helpful.This is no frivolous undertaking, as the book makes clear. The reading of cards must be approached with care and respect and intention for the highest good. While it is warm and eminently readable, the subject matter is approached with reverence. I loved that.As someone who is more comfortable with words than pictures, and who finds Tarot an enigma, I love Lenormand because the cards are more language than image. The playing cards feel even more pure, organic, close to Source. This book is all the guide I need to be able to add cartomancy to my reading repertoire. This book has enriched and enhanced my ability as a reader, and I recommend it to novices and seasoned readers alike.

This book left me speechless. I have been a fortune teller for many years. Yes, I have a website and clients.I learned to read playing cards the hard way. Lots of books and trial and error. It was arduous and time consuming. Many things were cast aside in the process. If only I had this book in the beginning of my quest, it would have been so much easier. This book gives some of the best card meanings I have come across, and they make sense, which is important when you are trying to commit them to memory. Also, this book has a very strong mystical/spiritual underpinning that gives the author's approach power. Excellent. Checked it out because I've always wanted to learn the playing cards as an oracle. Easy to read, understand, and explained and taught in such a way I almost felt as though the author was there teaching me in person, lol. I use this system exclusively and even watched his YouTube sessions, though I'm starting to stay away from them just because I'd rather not have to listen to the guy's political views color too much of the readings...I always think they have no place in the spiritual realm--Jesus himself wanted us to have nothing to do with it, and here I see why, its so divisive, so I've just tried to watch the celebrity readings (but sometimes it sneaks in even then...sigh.). Also, I liked it better in the old days when he used the playing cards exclusively, after all, its why I got the book in the first place, but then he made a Magi deck with pictures on them (much like the Lenormand) and uses those exclusively. Not a problem, really, just that for me the magic was in the mundane look of ordinary cards. If I wanted Lenormand, or Tarot, I would've gotten those, but. The book however, I recommend thoroughly, as it is to the point and the system is great. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed reading and learning the Magi Method from wonderful cartomancer Joseph Magi. In this book he gave a thorough and honest look at how the cards interact with each other and also to use your own intuitive knowledge once you are comfortable with the meanings. Another reviewer mentioned biases and i certainly did not feel any personal slant as far as sex/race/political party from reading this book or thw videos. All in all this is a great method to learn and i am thankful to have learned a great deal from Joseph Magi's method. Great book!
