Great for the price!
are these top of the line? noare they the best of the best? noBUT they are perfect for beginners or people who dont carve often. even people who are just curious to see if they would like carving.I will reccomend, learning how to and taking your time sharpening these. I am a hobby woodworker so I knew how to and some of them needed A LOT of work. So that is something to keep in mind if you are going to get this set, you will need to put some leg work into them but again.... for the price they are worth it!I bought this kit and plan on taking it with me when I go camping so I can woodwork in the woods! haha(Just make sure you upgrade the gloves to the ones that have the grippers on them, these gloves aren't really good against knives lol)

A good assortment of mediocre tools
For the price, you do get quite a lot with this kit. However, the tools are not very sharp, and teh handles are slick. Also, the spoon blank in Set 1 is dry oak- seriously hard to carve- leading to a challenging first carving experience for anyone new to carving. Using the sharpening stone and then stropping the tools does help some, but they would likely need more aggressive sharpening to be as effective as one would like. Morakniv knives are razor sharp from day one, so if you're getting into spoon carving, I would recommend getting one of their sloid knives, and one of their hook knives. Then, buy some basswood blanks. It would be a bit more, but will save you some frustration starting out. If you are a knife-sharpening whiz, and you don't mind slippery knives, then this kit will give you more bang for your buck, but likely not the longevity.

Sharp
Gloves definitely didn't assist in not cutting myself but the short scalpel looking knife is the sharpest by far. I found it to be the one that my project required the most as I needed to cut off a lot of wood. They do the job! Easy to use. Was happy with the way the knifes felt while using them. I would recommend for a beginner like myself.

I made a spoon!
I didn’t use the wood provided in the kit, but I did use the kit to make this spoon (I’ve since sanded it). It was one of the more inexpensive kits I could find but the sharp tools it hard got the job done. The size of the handles fit well in my hand and it’s a great looking little kit.
