Durable, Multi-purpose Mat
I love this mat - it is nice to look at, is super large - cleans easily and has many uses. I lay it out when I'm baking, measure ingredients over it, use it as a hot pad when pans come out of the oven, then just rinse it off in the sink. I haven't actually used it as a drying mat, but I have laid it over the grates of my stove when I'm frying something. I have an large, gas stove, and I hate cleaning all the burners and grates of grease splatter after I saute or stir fry food. Because this mat is silicone, I just lay it over adjoining empty grates without fear of it melting. There, it doubles as a spoon rest, and can even provide a nice platform/mess catcher for dredging and breading if I'm frying meat. Then, once finished, I just lift it to off to reveal clean burners. It's much easier to spray the silicone mat with a bit of dish soap and rinse it off than it is to detail a stainless stove with cast iron burners. I like this mat so much that I'm going to purchase a second one.

Good quality mat!
This is a great quality mat. It is the best thing I could find to replace my old rubbermaid mat that was actually made of rubber rather than hard plastic. I noticed a larger mat is now available. I think I should have bought that size. Just be aware that this mat has a rim on all 4 sides and does not drain into the sink. You must empty it.

Looks great on my new granite countertops!
We just had new "blackpearl" granite counter tops installed, and the idean of putting down a dish towel for drying things just didn't appeal to me. So, I went searching on Amazon and fount this drying mat. Yours truly must not have read the "fine print", as I didn't realize it would be silicone! I think I thought it would be more absorbent. While I was surprised when it arrived, I do like it! The ridges help things dry, as some air can get in, and I find that after use, I just roll it up and put it in a cabinet. The quality is nice, as is the size, and the ridge around the edge keeps the water on the mat (which is the idea!)

For those who only wash a glass or two at a time...
The lip to retain water runoff is so miniscule that if you wash any reasonable number of dishes after a meal, the water drains onto the counter. And because it is so flexible, it's hard to pick it up and pour excess water into the sink without getting it all over the place. Wish I hadn't bought...will have to purchase something else to replace it.

It's a Winner
We bought this for camping. BUT when we tested it in our home kitchen we noticed that it blended-in very nicely with our black, granite counter tops so we immediately decided that a second purchase will be in order. As other reviewers have mentioned this performs very well as a trivet for hot cookware, and is efficient for containing water run-off when used a a drying mat. One little note: if your tap water has a lot of minerals in it, they will leave a white residue when the water dries; however, this easily cleans off.

Time for a change
My first Rubbermaid drain board lasted 37 years. Its replacement started cracking after only a few years. Time for a change. I love this mat. It works well as drain board with a dish rack( the trusty harvest gold model from the 70's) or as a drainer for smaller hand-wash loads. It looks nice on the counter if you don't put it away. Very pleased

Perfect for my camper.
Great Matt for drying dishes & to use for hot pans or pots when your cooking. I bought this for my camper because the countertops are not heat resistant & I have to protect them when I cook. This is a good way to do that.

Retains all the water
I had a mat which absorbed all water from my dishes and it got somewhat stinky. I decided to try this out. It definitely doesn't absorb and I don't like it retains water everywhere. We've repurposed this as a mat for our snow shoes and it works well! Not a great price at $17
