Good TV even at MSRP of 600$ (wallmart), Better at 499$-529$ (amazon, bestbuy), best if you can find it at 379$ like me (:P)
First off I love this TV. I sort of found a mutant deal. I only heard about it from another review that some dude said he couldn't get the sale price from best buy after he bought it. Best buy was offering it at 499$ which is a great deal! Amazon doesn't charge tax but it was like 30$ more so its basically the same at 530$ and you have to wait for shipping. Anyways couple days ago best Buy was offering it at 379$!! that's right this TV at 379$ (not including tax) It wasn't listed on there website or even displayed in store at that price. I did a search for it and Slick deals came up that took me to a ebay / best buy ordering deal thing. I was kinda skeptical but I ran with it anyways. I cancelled my amazon 55H8c for aprx. 750$ and got 2 of the 50h8c's. One for me and one for my girl. It came out to be just a little more for the both of them. Honestly 5' doesn't make much difference. certainly not a couple hundred dollar difference. Lets be honest here... we are shopping these off brand Chinese TV's because we like getting the best deal possible and don't want to waste money on stuff that has a short shelf life. I get it... you get it. But the thing is. These new H8c line of tvs rock even if you have to pay the recommended MSRP. I just happened to have beat most of you guys on it! lol! getting two of these babies at 379$!!! Im not saying it to gloat... I'm really not. I just felt like I made out like an extreme bandit! The local dimming, the TV tuner, 4 year warranty, the amazing 4K Picture, HDR!!, great sound, and all the smart features you really need. I use my Xbox one for that stuff anyways. I have been rocking all my games like crazy now. its like playing the Witcher 3, Doom and Diablo 3 for the first time again. They never looked so good. I cant wait to try out the Xbox one S and then project Scorpio with it. This TV and the newer xbox is all you will need. Maybe a sound bar for extra punch but its a ready made solution for you! I put it in my bed room. I wish they made the H8c in a bigger size. So yeah this maybe a seemingly off brand to the American market, but Who cares! For those of you that got a broken model, that sucks... it will just take extra work to replace it. But I promise you for 379$ or even aprx. 500$ its a great deal. I was blown away buy the picture. No its not going to be as good as OLED or Hisense top of the line 10 series. But its easily good enough in my book. I honestly wish I bought 3 of them at that deal. I could have used one for my desk computer monitor. And sorry guys, I checked that deal expired after Monday... its back to 499$. to tell you the truth I don't know if it was a mistake that they were giving them away at that price. I was prepared to buy them at 499$ because its still a good deal. Anyways I cant say enough good things about this tv. I highly recommend buying this. And yeah if you feel the need to brag do it. You can do it because of the picture quality and the price you got it for. HDR is the new hot thing. 1080P is yesterday... 4k is today.... HDR is tomorrow. And this tv is the cheapest best quality future proof model you can find. It has a 4 year warranty if anything goes wrong or you can take it back. Hope this helps. Believe me I have been looking around for a long time. I guess you can chase the sales or risk some of those east coast bate and switch scams like Joes audio video or others. You get what you pay for and you get more with Hisense 8 series then you pay for... its kinda nice for a change in this day and age. I don't write reviews but for this model I wanted to. I might not have purchased it off amazon..... but I like amazon. And I recommend buying it off amazon both the 50h8c or the 558hc. They are tied for the best place to get it the H8c models. I didn't see any other place to get the 55h8c at the price amazon offered. Well I think that just about covers it. Cheers guys (note: I didn't proof read... sorry, I'm a busy guy lol)July 29 2016,Both TV's still going strong! :) btw I meant to add full array local dimming. Netflix looks amazing when its piped right through the TV. Its too bad the Xbox one is the bottle neck. make sure to pick up one of those black flat panel wall or window mountable 50 mile HD antennas for 20$ off amazon.com as well. its a one stop shop! I haven't tried the web browser yet. I'll let you know when I do! Cheers!

Great 4K HDR Panel for a Low Price
Excellent TV for the price. Once fine-tuned, the picture is great, if not superb (check avsforum.com and rtings.com for calibration settings). The sound from the built-in speakers is better than expected, though I generally use a receiver with it. I haven't experienced HDR on the panel yet—the latest firmware enables it for inputs from the 2 HDMI-2 ports, I believe. The built-in apps have decent UX and are pretty speedy. The built-in apps are not HDR-enabled, but I'm hoping that will come with a future firmware update. My main disappointment is the viewing angle is not terribly wide. I addressed this by buying a $24 adjustable wall mount for it. Also, a nice-to-have would be Bluetooth so I didn't have to enter text with the remote (obviously a minor complaint). Regardless, this is an incredible deal for a 4K HDR panel. I highly recommend it for anyone on a low budget.

$500 TV Rivals $1,000 Top Brand Models
I was a little skeptical of buying a brand I wasn't familiar with. But then I looked at the features and mostly positive reviews and decided for $500, why not. After I bought it, my brother tells me this is the one he'd been eyeing at the store- said it had a picture better than all the Samsungs and Sonys with quantum dots and all that... even looked almost as good as OLED. I wondered how this was possible, but I had to admit the picture did look excellent.Apparently this Hisense uses a VA panel which allows for super dark blacks, which is partly how it achieves such an amazing picture. VA panels have their drawbacks- you sacrifice viewing angle (which is why reviews cite picture degradation when viewed from an angle) but if you're sitting directly in front of this TV, it looks absolutely amazing. I never have a whole group of people watching with me anyways, and certainly never from an angle. But it is something to note- if you plan to have people watching from 30-45 degree angles (or more), check it out in a store first and see if you're ok with how it looks. I am no videophile and even I can see the degradation from sharp angles (tends to start losing a little color as you pivot to the side) but, if you plan to watch it straight on, take advantage of this VA panel that gives you near-OLED level blacks without the baggage of OLED (like temporary image retention and larger input lag). The HDR... need to talk about that. So ok, the TV interprets HDR10 format, which is what most HDR sources use. You update the TV via wifi and it gets patched in. But just know that the official Ultra HD Premium logo for "true HDR" requires 1000 nits peak brightness while this TV only hits around 440 (which is still good mind you- 1,000 is just an insane number and because this TV has such incredibly dark blacks the contrast ratio is really good) and the new wide color gamut, which uses rec2020 color spectrum while this TV still uses the traditional rec709. Honest opinion though, if you're an average Joe user like me, the wide color gamut isn't really a big deal. This TV does indeed use a 10 bit panel though, not 8-bit. So while you won't get HDR that takes it to such extremes like a $1200 Samsung, you do get a moderate taste of it, all in a $500 package which is basically unheard of. I've tried the HDR on my PS4 and it's definitely noticeable. I mean, the colors pop more and you can see detail in areas otherwise too bright and washed out... even if it's a toned down HDR it still makes it look noticeably better. And honestly, after all the horror stories of HDR making games look worse from being too dark and bright in areas, I rather appreciate a more toned down effect that enhances rather than taking center stage. As for other features... the local dimming doesn't have that many zones. But still, any local dimming at all is appreciated. I watched Civil War last night and the black bars on top and bottom, they looked so black it matched the black border of the TV itself. It was crazy. When the TV is on but has no signal, you can't even tell it's on. Which is just incredible. There are 4 HDMI ports, but only 3 and 4 are HDMI 2.0 which support 4K @60Hz. I only need one for my PS4. And next year when Scorpio releases it will get the other one. All normal HDMI like Wii U and Switch can use HDMI 1 and 2 with a splitter. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this TV. For $500 you won't find a better deal. The blacks on this TV are incredible, and without the $2,000 OLED price tag. The 4K image is crisp and clear- even Netflix looks sharper than 1080p BluRay. You can see the pores on people's faces like you're standing right there. I'm just blown away, and even my brother, after coming to check it out yesterday, has decided to go buy one of these. Will update if I experience any issues. But usually if a TV has issues it's right out of the box in my experience
