I often find a need to make larger holes or circular cutouts in leather. These work well at the sizes I needed. I would have given this five stars but two of the die, at the cutting edge, weren’t welded very well and I have to hand cut that spot. I think they could improve the product by a little more care on the point of contact with the welded edges.

Didn't get this for leather but have punched out a number of different materials -0 I design things and make all sorts of stuff.No instructions come with it so I had to experiment with what to put under it to make these work better, as well as what to put over them to strike. User plywood or MDF rather than "solid wood" pieces on top - solid ones all break apart quickly. Put shoe box or paper pad backing (rather than corrugated) cardboard immediately underneath and more wood as above below that so the rings can cut through more easily and completely.

Not recommended for felt material. It took us a while to see what worked best. The rubber mallet we purchased was a bust. Wound up using a regular hammer and two blocks of wood.

These were great! I punched holes in triple layered canvas. I used a dead blow hammer with a piece of wood. I had a large rubber base underneath. I’ve used hole punches before and I knew not to use a steel hammer directly on the metal punch. While hitting the dead blow hammer onto the wood I would gently rotate the hammering so as to make sure the hole was getting cut through all the material. I also knew to have a sturdy but soft base under it because once it’s through the material it will go into whatever is under it. The size punch I used was the largest one in the pack, I believe it was 1 3/4”. I used the punch to make holes to hang outdoor canvas curtains.

Perfect cuts. It is amazing.
