The Wedding Crasher: A Novel

Solange & Dean were sweet, funny & amazing
Just when I thought Mia Sosa delivered a funny, romantic, and great story, she did it once again with Solange and Dean’s story in, “The Wedding Crasher”. With fake dating, a control freak lawyer and free spirited, fiery woman, Solange and Dean were the total opposites of each other, but had such wonderful chemistry together. In the previous book, Dean was introduced as Max’s best friend, and Solange was only mentioned since she was off busy completely her studies for her Master’s degree. Now in this book, Solange came back to DC as part of completing her fellowship and ironically enough ended up meeting Dean… on the day of his wedding to another woman. In terms of “meet cutes”, this was certainly interesting haha especially since Solange ended up crashing Dean’s wedding and objecting to it. A lot happened just in the beginning, but it set the stage for a intriguing storyline.Dean and Solange’s dynamic was great, and I loved how even as they got to know each other they were able to have a sense of ease, it didn’t feel awkward as one would imagine. In a way, the start of Dean and Solange’s relationship felt like a “friends to lovers” kind of trope since they became somewhat friends and eventually more. I also liked how honest and upfront Solange and Dean were with each other since sometimes there could have easily been the miscommunication, but instead with everything out in the open, both knew where the other stood. In addition, Solange was able to bring out a more relaxed, fun side to Dean. Dean was (and for the longest time) always focused on trying to achieve his list of goals that he set out for himself, and didn’t really enjoy his life like letting loose, etc. Solange on the other hand has had experience in having fun, being open to new experiences so she was able to help Dean in that regard. For example, chapter 14/ 15 not only took me by surprise, but it was an instance in which Dean just went with the flow and followed Solange. Chapter 14/15 also revealed a little bit more about Solange’s past experiences and just how open minded she was. *In the previous book, it was mentioned that Solange had a “crazy” stage where she did a lot of different things, so it was hinted at, and now in this book it was expanded on. After those two chapters, the tension between Solange and Dean just kept getting hotter and hotter! Phew someone turn on the air conditioner! One of my favorite things (among many) in romance books is the tension, seeing how the characters are pining over one another and waiting for the moment they crumble and BOOM! Fireworks! Kisses! And more! YASSSSSSS!!! Once again, Dean and Solange delivered well on that note *wink. For all the romance and cuteness, I liked learning more about Solange and her backstory. For instance, Solange’s hope that if she were to ever meet someone, she would hope that they would be fully committed to the relationship because, due to her father being in love with another woman, Solange never wanted that to happen to her. Whereas Dean, was someone who didn’t believe in “warm, fuzzy” feelings when it came to relationships, if anything he didn’t want to fall in love because, he didn’t want to lose focus on the things that mattered to him, his list of goals, etc. In a way, both Solange and Dean had their own ideas of what should be a relationship, but through learning more about each other’s past, they were able to fully grasp why they thought the way they did.By the end, Solange and Dean were able to realize their true feelings for each other, and based off the epilogue everything turned out amazingly for them. This was such a funny, sweet, cute story, and Solange and Dean had me laughing and smiling.

truly funny romcom
The Wedding Crasher is funny! I love romcoms because I am a total romantic but I also love to laugh. I enjoyed The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa, so I wanted to give this one a read as well. Although they are related, you don’t necessarily have to read them in order. As I’ve said before, I really like the fake dating trope and this one is a great example of a fake dating story going well. I love dual POV fake dating because we as a reader (or listener) get to see how they each feel about moments they share and situations they’re put in (ie one bed) and we can scream at the characters “but he does want to be with you!” There is no major miscommunication in this book, which is something I greatly appreciate. Side characters matter and the friends & family in this story are pretty amazing. There are a few steamy scenes that could be skipped without missing important pieces of the plot if open door romance isn’t really your thing.Thank you @harperaudio for a free copy of this audiobook.

Cute Fake Dating Novel
Dean and Solange don't have the intense sexual chemistry of their predecessors but their non-sexual chemistry is undeniable. I love the subversion on the wedding crashing trope too. It's always an ex who tries to break up a wedding but in this story, it's a concerned stranger. Dean and Solange's relationship progression makes sense and seemed natural. I think it's because their chemistry (I know I'm using that word a lot.) had a friendship-like tone which made watching them fall in love all the more rewarding. Overall, it was a fun read and a nice follow up to the Worst Best Man.

I swear those two were going to kill me. The chemistry! The denial! The playfulness...
After reading The Worst Best Man, I anticipated this would be a fun read. It was and yet I still had no idea what I was getting into. This book had so much going on and as soon as I thought we were in for a chill, low steam read I was quickly proven wrong. Fake dating for work tropes gives me so much nervous energy but my quick obsession with Dean and Solange helped with that. Solange believes in love. Dean does not see love factoring into his life plan. That’s okay though because this is totally just a favor then they will part ways😉“As I watch Dean leave the karaoke room, I sway to the music, pretending I’m completely unaffected by him even though that couldn’t be further from the truth. From here on out, I should be addressed as Solange of House Perreira, the Worst of Her Name, Queen of the Liars, Breaker of Vows and Mother of Bad Ideas. I’m trying to resist my attraction for him, though. God, I’m really, really trying.”I swear those two were going to kill me. The chemistry! The denial! The playfulness! The flirting! Both of them trying to protect themselves in different ways, yet structured plans destined to fly right out the window. The surprise gems throughout this book are just chef kiss. Not to be vague but I am trying to avoid spoilers here. Just you wait! A little memorable karaoke anyone? All of this and we get to spend more time with Solange and Lina’s family. Let’s just say this “scheme” is definitely a team effort. The return of Lina and Max was a highlight as well and I can’t wait to see more of all of these characters. Hopefully in Jaslene’s story. I need Jaslenes book next!

Such a Cute Fake Relationship Romance! With some SPICE!
4/5-I always love a good, funny, fake dating romance! It was really giggle inducing and relevant. The spice wasn’t wild, but you got extra references in the additional scenes (The interaction with the swingers, the sex party, and the fashion show). The intermingling of Brazilian culture was so much fun to read! Overall a really nice book!Loved that the characters from the character series were included in this book and I HOPE there will be a third book!Brief Plot: Solange overhears an unfaithful bride on her wedding day. So she logically speakis up at the ceremony. But Dean was ready for a business-deal marriage. So now, still needing a fake relationship, he calls in his IOU from Solange.

An amazing book!
I LOVED this book! It was the perfect romcom. We had spice, romance, humour and fake dating!!The start of the book and the introduction between the two MC’s is one of my all time favourites! It was so clever and unique. But it also really set the tone for the rest of the book and did an amazing job at introducing the characters.Dean was a brilliant MMC. He was quite uptight at the start but once he started opening up he became much more humble and he was just adorable. I don’t know how Solange didn’t just pounce on him all the time. You could tell from the start that Solange and Dean fit so well together. They brought the best out of eachother and I couldn’t imagine them not together. There was so much sexual tension between Dean and Solange. The innocent touches and flirting made me so hot and bothered. The spice was so dirty but it also felt really romantic aswell.I have no idea how Mia Sosa managed to slot in a scene at a sex party and make it work, but it happened. I would’ve liked the scene to be a bit longer because I think it would’ve added another dimension to the story while also pleasing all of us smut seekers. We also got to see loads of Max and Lina from book 1 (The Worst Best Man). I love it when we get to see previous characters and I feel like lots of other books tend to fall short on this. So a big tick for this for Mia Sosa.✦ Tropes: fake dating, one bed

Big turn off halfway
I was enjoying this book until the halfway point where they got tricked into going to a sex party then decided to stay and watch. A completely unnecessary scene which felt totally out of place and put me off reading the rest of the book.

Strangers to friends to lovers
Okay! Gosh this book! I can't even share all of my highlighted phrases on Good reads because they feel so personal. 🤣(Minor spoiler unrelated to overall plot)I loved both the protagonists but I am completely biased towards the male lead. Dean was the sweetest ever! I mean a guy who would put up a fashion show for his girl when she is PMSing and an impromptu magic Mike performance with confidence! I love him!I love books where characters are kind, honest and considerate. Dean and Solange just gelled so well and got along like a house on fire 🔥.They were super aware of the mutual attraction and were dead honest about it when it mattered. (Thank God for that). They were also comfortable in their own skin and didn't feel the need to pretend like somebody else. (I'm talking about tropes where the hero pretends to be an arrogant prick or the heroine acts clueless about the way her body reacts to sexual attraction. It's so overdone)I loved the fact that this was a dual POV book. This was a true rom com and I was giggling like an idiot throughout the book. Smut was damn fun! The ending at a Vegas chappel was straight out of a rom com movie. That twist was refreshing. I need more books with super compatible MCs real quick!

Come and meet some wedding crashers who are adorable and naughty!
What I really liked about this book is the genuineness of Dean. The truth that he wants to believe in and yet he knows he is drawn towards Solange. There is a beautiful common ground that brings them together and I love that about the both of them. Solange knows Dean is set in his ways and she can't be with him.The lovely friendship they build in the entire narrative was really fun to read. I liked the messiness of both the characters and true TWBM was much much better but I would recommend this to my friends who don't read romance because it isn't all dreamy and yes the book made me laugh out loud a lot..You get to meet Max and Lina of course and you will enjoy meeting all the Tias and the love/annoyed relationship Solange has with her Tias is beautiful. That trust and that faith the family and cousins give you is the best thing to read. I had tears in my eyes.So romance reader or not, I think you need to read about Solange and Dean as characters and yes S*x is there. How could it not be.
