The Complete Book of the Alphabet (The Complete Book Series) Paperback – April 1, 2003

This is a great beginner book for about a 4 year old. Some kids are ready to write before others, so use your judgment. It has many engaging activities and breaks the letters into smaller groups to give kids time to learn the letters before moving on to the next set. You could easily do a letter of the week type curriculum with this book. Great price too!

I haven't actually used it yet as I have purchased it for next years homeschool but it looks like it should be easy to use.

Great book for beginners! We've done preschool hooked on phonics before we started with this book, so the kids finished this one pretty fast; when they were 4-5 years old.Our 3rd one just started his, and I got one for when it's time for our 4th one.

I started out liking this book, but I no longer like it. The publisher makes poor choices in pictures, creating confusion for the kids. One example of this is an exercise that requires the child to identify pictures that have the same ending sound. The picture is of a jet, but is not distinct enough for a child to identify as a jet as opposed to a plane (like a preschooler could make that distinction anyway). The only way you can tell it is not a jet is because none of the corresponding pictures end with the "n" sound. Problems similar to this exist through the entire book. I am completing the book with my child, but I highly recommend another book. I like the Brainquest series, and School Zone books seem decent. I would not recommend this book or others in this series (the everything for early learning book is largely an exact reprint of this book).The good things about this book are:1) Lots of repetition.2) Activities are generally the same for each letter, so a child can work independently even if they can't read the instructions.3) Beginning phonics is covered towards the end of the book.

This is a great book. I was struggling teaching my son. This help parents also. This goes step by step. Enough repeated pages, so kids can do exercises again and again.
