ZyXEL Communications Next Generation Usg 60

The ZyXEL router was recommended by the company providing my VOIP telephone service. It is a full featured router with WiFi that received very positive reviews and was a router that was priced competitively in the recommended list.Installation of the router required the assistance of my VOIP provider to properly set up the features. It was not something I could have done as a computer novice. After installing, I had a message that a firmware update was present. The update was something I had my IT person perform and it was not an easy task as instructions were not clear.The router has a built in VPN, but we are unsure if it is active or how to activate it if not active.

Works as advertised. Easy setup and registration. VPN capable and cloud access.

This is an excellent firewall/router. I have purchased several of these over the last few years for different client applications and I have never been disappointed. I purchased the first one out of desperation several years ago when a Cisco ASA5505 went belly up on a new client and I had nothing to replace it with and I needed something in a hurry. Admittedly I initially found the user interface and configuration settings a bit confusing, but after a very quick phone call to their customer support, which is excellent by the way, all my issues were resolved.Since then I have, as I said, purchased several more and all have exceeded expectations every time. Any time I have had issues with configuration or have had a question, their support have been able to answer it for me quickly and with little downtime for the client. I have been in the IT business for over 25 years and Zyxel’s products are the best I’ve seen at this price point. For small to medium business applications, they can’t be beat and any negative reviews, I’m sure, can be chalked up to not even bothering to contact customer support.

USG110 is an excellent firewall/universal gateway with dual WAN (via 1000baseT) support. Throughput is good but isn't capable of gigabit speeds if all defenses are turned on to maximum. The only real drawback is a lack of support for OpenVPN, but this is true for virtually every major manufacturer.

You can use the 4 ports as a 4 port switch, or create 4 separate LANs, or a separate "guest" AP network, or any combo.Best feature is 2 WAN ports... makes it easy to have a primary ISP and a backup ISP. Auto switch over!Very easy interface for configuration!Only downside... the bandwidth thru the box will slow down with multiple heavy users of the internet.
