Seems to work fine
It's a little bulky for a back-up iron sight, but seems to hold zero and it is low enough to be unobtrusive to my red dot. I have it mounted on an AR-15. If you don't want to spend the money on Troy, I think this could be a good option for you. I'm not made of money so it made perfect sense to skimp a little on the back-ups so I could get a nicer main optic. This product is well worth the money; just wish we had an option close to this price that was made in the U.S. If I find anything different as I use it more I will update this post.*I should add that this sight is designed to mount on a low profile gas block, that is, it is taller than a rear sight made by the same company. If you plan on mounting the sight level with the rear sight, this would not work.

It goes on the rail perfect and may have to tighten the knob more by ...
Well built and is not made of hard plastic. I haven't taken out my AR yet to the range so I am not about how it will handle the light recoil of an 5.56/.223. My four stars relates to the quality of the product and not necessarily the performance and/or reliability since I can't comment on that yet. It goes on the rail perfect and may have to tighten the knob more by using a Quarter coin. So for the price and the quality of the product, I do recommend this.

Not bad for the price, but bulky.
The bulkiness problem with this sight is a result of the giant nut for the rail clamp. It protrudes enough to make me purchase another more expensive front gas block sight. As I do not plan on taking this front sight off after I install it (the reason I was looking for a flip down) I do not see the need for an easy to grasp hand crank of a nut.If you do not care about form with function and on a budget, then it is not a bad sight. If you can afford one in the $60 range, and you care about how your rifle looks you should be able to find one that will work with a little digging on internet.

Excellent site.
Works very well as a gas block mounted front sight. The only problem I noticed after extensive use is the mounting screw can work loose, ( this can happen with any item that uses this type mounting method ) it is however an easy fix with a little blue thread lock. One other item of note is to make sure you get the correct hight sight for your firearms gas block, I have talked to many upset people at the local firing range who could not site in their rifle because they were not aware of this issue.

This sight is tall enough to use on a mil-spec picatinny front gas block. It will not work for rail-height front gas blocks, or for continuous rail applications. -- you need rail-height sights for that. I know, the picture shows it on the rail height. But it's too tall for that.Mine assembled fine on a cheap PSA upper with a rail on the gas block, and is the right height using a milspec rear BUIS. The rifle was able to be zero'd without any further modifications.

Good back up front sight for your gas block
Good back up front sight for your gas block. Rather sturdy and holds zero well. Front post is too large in my opinion, and it may sit crooked. Can't tell. Adjusted my gas block anyway to compensate. Good for the price.

Made for a gas block rail
Sight designed for a gas block. Tried it on my guadrail and it had a terrible lock up, very loose and rattles a lot. Some duct tape underneath the sight would give a better lock up but I don't think that would work well on a hot gas block.
