Great action thriller
Another in the great series by Julian Stockwin. Sigh, and now all hope of crossing paths with Lewrie be lost! Fans of British Navy sea captain series know what I mean. So now I look forward to each new tale of Tom.

Good Read
Very good read in context of the series

Another very good tale in a great series.
While I think the storyline was a bit too close to a Patrick O'Brien storyline, there were enough twists and turns to make it original. I love the Kydd series and do not look forward to it ending.

Kidd meets Cochrane.
A few reviewers have expressed dismay or disbelief that Kidd could blow his savings so easily, but that is exactly what happened to Cochrane - so it is not in any way far-fetched, but goes to illustrate his naivety and the misplaced trust the unwary seafarer has in dealing with The City.Agreed, this volume is more disjointed than the previous, but it serves a purpose in describing the chicanery and old boy's network that existed in the political and Admiralty world of the time.
