Ghost Rider Vol. 1: King Of Hell

It not good to be the King
They changed it at the end. Usually the art work is the best thing about the Ghost Rider comics. The story is playing catch up. Call it a person opinion but I did not like the way Ghost Rider was drawn. The story on the other hand I thought had legs. This book contains issues 1 - 4 of the main Ghost Rider series, and a one shot side issue and an issue from the Absulute Carnage Symbiot of Vengence.Johnny Blaze is the king of Hell, but he is still trying to figure out his powers, stop breakout and if he has time stop a power play for his throne. While on Earth he runs into his brother Dan Ketch, drinking himself silly while letting his Ghost Rider out when it wants. Again Dan finds himself being a pawn in another game. If the book only contains these four issues I would have given it three stars. The only shot and side issues are so much better. Great art work and story as well. My only problem is they star Dan as the Ghost Rider instead of Johnny. Though the last page of the one shot given me a lot of hope for the future of this series.

Ghost Rider Books Aren’t Getting Better
Sorry if this isn’t a well written review I didn’t take time to plan this and there will probably be spoilers. After Donny Cates’ amazing work with Doctor Strange Damnation Johnny Blaze was left as the new king of hell! How could any story with Johnny Blaze as the new king of hell be bad right? Well it is.I’m not sure if it’s the writers or if Marvel is secretly determined not to make Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch likable characters but this book is no exception! Danny just comes off as a whinny little bitch! Doing nothing but constantly complaining about how terrible his life is because he’s the Ghost Rider and how much it’s taken from his life. Even with the threat of demons escaping hell to set Mephisto free and other demons making a play for Johnny’s throne Danny’s still doing nothing but constantly whinnying and reflecting on his “pain”(😒 little bitch). After how bad Jason Aaron’s run on Ghost Rider The War For Heaven is the character Danny Ketch is still very much a sucker and an idiot, hasn’t learned a thing and is still being manipulated in the most obvious ways but really you might as well hate the writer too because in this book no matter how obvious it is Brisson will still have you doubting and heading scratching due to how bad he structures the mysteries about whose playing who and who’s being used and not in an, “OMG What A Mind F@%#!😄”, way but as in, “This Is F@%#ing Retarded.. !😑”, way.One good thing I can say about this book is that the character Johnny Blaze is a lot more likable here as opposed to Daniel Way’s or especially Aaron’s writing but Johnny is still kind of an idiot as he’s still pretty much making “some” dumb decisions like fighting with Wong instead of communicating with him before busting Mephisto out so as to figure out how to keep demons from escaping and maintaining his thrown.. couldn’t have done that with Mephisto behind bars or maybe work with Strange to make him talk? No instead whines about being the king of hell and how Wong and the others never sent a rescue for Johnny even though Johnny is the best thing that has ever happened to hell (ironic) and that they have no one to replace him. Brisson could do more to make Johnny less of a mistake repetitive fool, I mean is it to much to ask for beloved characters to be less frustrating?. Actually other than that I really don’t have an issue with Johnny Blaze in this book so at least Brisson is doing right in that regards. But like all Ghost Rider stories recently aside from Donny Cates’ Cosmic Ghost Rider, the contents of the stories have enormous potential but the writings are always terrible and just turns such great ideas into nothing but garbage and nonsense! This book, The King Of Hell, at least doesn’t completely ruin the concept of the story it’s just over shadowed by a massive amount of frustration with the mysteries of the story being poorly structured and Danny Ketch being unrealistically stupid and impractical like going to limbo and asking the king for power to “stop Johnny cause he’s gone mad” without any leverage or bargaining chip, No literally walks right up to the guy who looks like Mephisto’s jealous little brother and asks for help for the sake of the greater good... yeah that really happened😒.I give one star cause the book ends with you being frustrated and gives no clarity to wtf is really happening to Danny Ketch. Also Major Spoiler, Danny is Now the Spirit of Corruption imbued by the king of limbo and the outfit looks like a medieval greenlantern and don’t be fooled by the sound it’s actually pretty lame and screams lazy imagination and writing.Buy At Your Own Risk.

HORRIBLE CONDITION
The condition in which my comic book arrived was like it was just ran over in someones car as they were breaking. Corners all bent, the scratches and tears all over, the protective layers on it torn off.Absolute trash condition.
