The characters are so well crafted, and everything seems so real, it sucks you in from the first page and keeps you from letting it down until the very end.You go through a whole range of emotions, from fear, to relief, from empathy to anger, to love, to frustration, to sadness and sorrow and love all over again.It is beautifully written, and makes you think you are living in the story with the characters at all times.Tense and angsty, hot and steamy, full of action, it makes for one of the best reads!I absolutely loved it!

Wow! The Brit was a thrilling romance that absolutely kept me on my toes from start to finish.This book is a twisting labyrinth of a storyline with vivid characters and so many secrets that you will discover something new in each chapter before the big picture becomes clear. And just when you think you know, Jodi Ellen Malpas changes the rules yet again. It’s been ages since I read a story that so skillfully combined elements of a steamy romance with a thriller and created an absolute page turner that was impossible to put down.Danny and Rose are two delightfully flawed characters who don’t trust others and are trying to survive the unfair hand life has dealt them. They are survivors, warriors that refuse to give up, and they persist for the chance at happiness despite it being so far out of reach. Danny is The Brit, the Angel-faced Assassin. He rules Miami with an iron fist; and to maintain his control, he needs a new marina. To get it, he bankrolls a politician running for mayor who isn’t holding up his end of the bargain. In a twist of fate, after a persuasive meeting with the politician, Danny walks away with the candidate’s mistress, Rose. Rose, for her part, is spying on the politician for the criminal holding her puppet strings. She hates him, but can’t escape him. Backed into a corner, she has no choice but to go with Danny even though it could mean her death.Our two main characters, now in Danny’s home, constantly feel the pull of lust and attraction which they fight and give into equally. Neither trusts the other, both having learned that those closest to you can hurt you the most. From here, the plot becomes explosive, and we vacillate between steam, dialogue, and moments where they reveal pieces of their souls. As the past and truths are revealed, the plot twists and turns to an explosive ending that will leave you spellbound. This is a must read mafia romance that will thrill and entice you with every page turn and a must have on your bookshelf.

Well, this is my first time reading from this author. And now I'm excited to read some of her other stuff.Rose was fierce and stood her own. Thank God. I'm so so so tired of the mousy, weak, virgin female character theme. Rose, was not.Danny turned out to have a heart of gold, and I loved him for it.Now, why not 5 stars?! Well, first the book truly has to be spectacular for my 5 stars. While this was good. Just a few things were a bit offputting. Constant naked times. Not a bad thing! But this was really constant. Too much of anything in a book, gets old. And around 80% or so, it took a sappy, cringy turn. Just a bit too lovey dovey for me....mostly from Danny. Just didn't happen as organically...more rushed in that moment. Like they went from 0 to 80. When both these characters are described as emotionally stunted.And Danny talks about his right hand man and BFF Brad like he hangs the moon, but why for the entire book, does Danny seriously treat Brad like shiz?I thought everything else was great. Great development and back story.

There truly is no better word to describe this book. At times, I wanted to shout at Rose and Danny for different reasons. K wanted to shake them and request that they stop being so stubborn. In the end however thats what made the ending of this book so enjoyable. It was true to who the character were and I can not wait to see where the rest of the series goes.

This author knows how to spin a tale. Although it was a very very long book, and I usually don't like to get invested in such a long book, I couldn't stop reading. It was such an involved story and such complex characters, it held me all the way through, and I'm still sniffling. 5 stars isn't enough

Oh. My. God. This book is just... wow. You're either going to really love it or really hate it; there is ZERO in between with this one. And while there are things in here that should've tanked this romance for me, there was no stopping my love of this book. It's just twist after dark and delicious twist; a completely, unquestionably unpredictable ride from start to finish. This is the kind of book where every page is important, because there is just SO MUCH going on, and it's an intricate dance from loathe to love for this couple. The cat and mouse game got to me at times, and this antihero would truly terrify me if I ever met him in person, but... that doesn't mean I didn't love this messy, addictive, and DARK mafia romance.Normally I'd give some storyline details here, but you don't really want me to do that. Go into this one blind; I did, and I do not regret it. Just know that this is dark and steamy, twisted and messy, with characters who are flawed and broken to their cores. This is not an easy or average kind of love; it's poisonous and often toxic. There are acts of extreme violence punctuated by soft, tender moments of intense intimacy, and the contradictions throughout will keep you on your toes. I never, ever knew what to expect, and that is seriously all part of the fun. If you'd told me the plot and some of the conflicts ahead of time, I would NOT have read this. No question. On paper, there are elements to this story that are a complete turnoff to me, but they somehow didn't do anything to decrease my love for this couple - even if they had me wanted to throw my Kindle sometimes. But fair warning: this is not a love story for everyone. And I think it goes without saying that the storyline is just riddled with TRIGGERS of all kinds.Are you still with me? Good, because this is well worth a read.

I have read each and every book by Jodi except this series. Idk why I kept putting this off for so long. Mainly because I don't usually read a lot of mafia but omg I loved this book so much. This book made me feel a plethora of emotions from horror, pain, hopelessness to lust and so much love. Can't wait to read the next one in this series.

Her alpha males are always so incredibly mesmerising... her stories so compelling and well structured... and believe me, The Brit is 100% a JEM classic.Danny Black is quite a lot different to her usual hero alphas. He’s danger personified. He’s not just dark... he is pitch black. Devoid of emotion, he is ruthless and uncaring. Get in his way and he will give no second chances.Saved by his Mafia boss ‘father’ from years of abuse, Danny is brought up in a world much different to the life he knew in England. Deadly that’s how drastic.This book is explosive (literally!). There is so much to love about it... but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted. It’s raw, ruthless and savage, but also beautifully compelling and wonderfully romantic.Danny and Rose start of being one of the most infuriating couples... they hate each other to begin with and are constantly pushing each other away... but no one can deny their physical draw to each other. They are magnetic. Electrifying. It’s a kind of weird ‘slow burner’... you get glimpses of how amazing they will be together but it’s a relationship so propelled by angst and darkness that by the time they do finally allow themselves to give in to temptation it’s a bloody relief.There are some real laugh out loud moments (“Calm down, Tackleberry” just had me floored!) and some incredibly heartfelt and deeply moving scenes that brought tears to my eyes. Brad as a character is so awesome and Ringo makes me laugh in an uncomfortable doofus Mafia henchman kind of way.It would make the most amazing film... (are you listening Netflix/Amazon).So, well done (again!!) Jodi. You have given yet another amazing story, with yet another powerful female and a delicious alpha that has yet again stolen my heart. Everybody secretly loves a bad boy... and yep, I love Danny Black. Utterly fabulous!!PS: JEM, we need an epic epilogue for this story. We need to know what happens to Rose.

JEM wrote another masterpiece and this book seriously gave me all the feels! It Abso-freaking-lutely blew my mind & my heart to pieces! A page-turner! Chapeau lady!Everyone needs this #angelfacedassassin & his strong fierce Rose in their life’s!Danny and Rose experienced evil at a young age and their emotional walls are up and seem unbreakable! They are flawed and scarred which made Danny a stone cold, no second chances assassin and Rose an emotionless but strong minded asset to some powerful people.In a turn of events Danny takes Rose as collateral and to also blackmail her current lover! Little did he know that she stirs something within him he didn’t expect and oh boy do they drive each other up the wall.Their sexual tension gave me whiplash with their twisted and kinda messed up push n pull that had my heart on edge but then there are also moments that made me smirk and grin and fall in love with them!I can only highly recommend this book, it messed me up emotionally but in a good way! I love JEMs books, she makes you fall in love, then hits you were it hurts, right in that angsty heart but somehow puts it back
