Top Quality Brand and Trustworthy Specs
This is the brand to buy for serious users. I know that the rest of the SG-1 team and I can rely on these glow sticks when exploring those Goa'uld ships or caves and clearing those rooms. But seriously, Cyalume is a leading brand for serious work. I don't want to be dramatic, but this is safety gear and your life might depend on it. Don't save pennies and risk life or limb. Tie one on to the back of your backpack or vest, and your team will know who you are (or find your body easily in the dark). Stick some on the kids, and you can keep an eye on them around the camp. This is a reliable manufacturer whose specs are solid - and while a bit more money than others, you get good value in this offering. Sure, if you are hosting a RAVE - get a cheaper brand in bulk. If you are getting ready for a space alien invasion or WW3 (any day now) - go with a Cyalume ten pack. Individually wrapped and ready to distribute for immediate or later use.

Currently using 7 year old sticks during hurricane - excellent
I bought these in 2017, with an expiration of 09/2022. Originally packed as a supplement emergency light source for diving if three lights fail, where these are indeed bright enough to navigate with when tested. I'm currently on my 2nd full day without power after a major hurricane and have used these as a supplement light source. The room picture shows the light output from a freshly cracked stick, and the close-up pic shows a stick I cracked approximately 48hrs ago, still glowing faintly (image is slightly brighter than real life). These won't let you light up a whole room for detailed tasks, but you can easily read with one, wash dishes or just have some light in the room without wasting batteries. All this from a glowstick I bought 7 years ago for less than a couple bucks each. I'd say that's about as good as it gets from a glowstick!

Bright glow for a long time
I've been using this brand of glow stick for a long time to mark guy lines that are tripping hazards when camping. They say they last for 12 hours but I've normally seen them last even longer. They put off a substantial amount of light for a chem light. I used these very recently camping up in the mountains and it still had some glow into the second night (and these has already been sitting around for years). It wasn't a lot of light but still enough to mark where the guy line was that I'd hung it off of. I cannot recommend these enough. They really work great, especially for the price. As long as they keep making them the same way they do, I'll never buy anything else. I'd imagine they work great as emergency lighting as well, but fortunately I've never had to use them for this.

Not that bright but very functional
I expected the Cyalume to be brighter, but they are good enough. The stick I tried lasted the whole night. I did the dishes and cooked on this light alone. I also wandered on the darkness with it navigating indoors mostly and a little outdoors. The hook and hole on the plastic handle are good for putting it temporarily to illuminate an area while hanging it on a wire, a crevice on the wall or a nail on a pillar.High precision tasks are not good with this light. You have to put it on top of whatever you are working with. Is bright enough that will not allow you to see beyond it if using directly on front, so I put it on my palm holding it with my thumb and then facing it towards whatever I wanted to illuminate with my open palm being a shild for my eyes. One stick is as bright as a small candle. This sticks are mainly good for moving around and signaling. This truly are emergency lights, for conditions with strong wind and rain, where you need constant lighting on difficult conditions. But even on most emergencies a nice tactical led flashlight will be orders of magnitude brighter, my 65 lumens led flashlight illuminates a whole room when pointed toward the roof, it just does not last as much as this SnapLight. It may be obvious for most, but this SnapLight are not for casual occasions in a price/illumination ratio perspective. They are a last resort when batteries are precious commodities and there is no electricity to recharge them if rechargeable, like in hurricanes.Being somewhat cheap while providing great running time is among its best points. I could not verify the full 12 hours (fell sleep....), but it seems to me they can last that much.Being one-use without on-off capabilities is the only bad thing about them. The SnapLight would be the last thing to use indoors for me. Candles are better in price/illumination/re-usability/flexibility ratio for indoors. In a backpack or the car while hiking or on the road would be where its value would truly shine. In short in outdoors is where this device is truly useful, where the wind and/or rain would make cumbersome other methods of lighting and signaling.About the seller and shipping:=======================On a side note I bought it directly from Amazon, but they ship it without any padding on a big document envelope, while the envelope itself has a little padding, this is too thin and the box containing the sticks got a little mauled. The sticks seem to be fine, and the one a tried at random worked well. Because this sticks are one-use only without an on/off capability is unlikely to find out if any got broken while on shipping until I need them the most. I had the free super saver shipping option available, but chose to go with standard shipping thinking of speed and the fantasy of better care.. on shipping. Well It came quickly..Usually Amazon has the better care with my packages, don't know what happened this time. The worst thing is the doubt.

Don’t microwave them
Same stuff we used in the army back in the day when men had balls and women didn’t.

They work just as advertised, great product!
I have been testing these chem lights compared to normal home depot chem lights and these Cyalume seem to be brighter, they do last a whole night and glow very little even 20 hours later. Light emitted is reasonable, don't expect a light bulb worth of light but they do light up very well in pitch black rooms, a full 15ft x 20ft room can be illuminated with one hanged chem light if placed well. I tried chewing on one to see how easy it was to perforate one, and i was unsuccessful on perforating it with my teeth. great quality, does exactly as advertised. Satisfied with my purchase.

Bright and long-lasting
These glow sticks are easy to activate and very bright once they are. They last as advertised and are great either for function or for fun.
