Great delivery of harmonies , hooks and instruments
After a couple of CD's that were very sub par for this band Carbon Leaf have come back in a VERY BIG way. This CD is a joy to listen to. Carbon Leaf have gone back to the Celtic/Rock sound that made some of the great songs on their earlier release Echo Echo very enjoyable to listen to. They have added a bigger sound with bagpipes and brought back the Tin Whistle in which helps make their sound very unique and original. While listening to this CD it is very apparent that they took the time to write great harmonies, delivery of catching infLections vocally and arraingement that is outstanding. Carbon Leaf has also took the time to put in a couple of great instrumentals. I was quite happy to hear that this band had put out a new CD that had that Celtic feel to it and am hopeful that they do not stray too far off what they are very good at in the future. thanks Carbon Leaf

Wow Celtic Album of the Year
Carbon Leaf with Ghost Dragon Attacks Castle has jumped back to some of their folkier celtic routes, and it pays off. This album from start to finish will have you dancing and singing along throughout St. Patty's day and beyond. Personal favorites include Bloody Good Barfight Song, Donnybrook Affair, Oi, and The Fox and the Hare. Carbon Leaf first hit it big winning an American Music Award in 2001 mainly from the strength of their last celtic themed album, Echo Echo. Since then they have shown numerous musical personalities and interests, had a series of adult contemporary hits, and have built a large national fan base. Now on their own independent label again, they head back to what made them great. With that said, they have progressed into mature artists. This is not Echo Echo part two, but a big step forward musically for the band. I definitely see this album being an underground hit this year. Can't wait to see them on tour.

Carbon Leaf Spins Gold with this More Traditionally Celtic Album
Carbon Leaf has always shown strong Celtic influences, but this album has a much more traditional Celtic sound. It's energetic and a lot of fun. This is not an album you can listen to without at least tapping a foot. You'll more likely want to dance and sing along. In fact, I dare you to listen to "She's Gone (...for Good This Time)" without shouting out the audience participation lines--provided you aren't listening at work or something. "Bloody Good Bar Fight Song," "The Donnybrook Affair," and "Song for the Sea" are also standouts for me, as well as the instrumentals "Ghost Dragon Attacks Castle," "February Detailles," and "Amhran Damhsa." "The Road Is Breaking My Heart" is quieter, introspective, and beautifully, well, heart-breaking. Carbon Leaf has more than delivered with this excellent collection.

Best Release since Echo Echo
I originally started following Carbon Leaf about the time Echo Echo came out (2001) and immediately grabbed their previous albums. The mix of sounds, harmonies, and a touch of celtic was fantastic. I fully enjoyed the following albums, but none seemed to have that same energy and uniqueness that drew me in originally, as a whole.Until now. Ghost Dragon Attacks Castle is absolutely fantastic. It starts off with tremendous energy and just flows so smoothly throughout the whole album. The first two tracks kick everything off so well and with so much energy. The tin whistle also makes a return to their music, as well as some other instruments that add complexity and uniqueness. I enjoy every track and look to hearing them in concert soon.

Phenomenal return of the old Carbon Leaf
I became a Carbon Leaf fan the minute I heard "The Boxer" on 103.7 in Seattle in 2001. They stood out as one of my favorite bands for many years though I have to say that I wasn't a big fan of their last 2 studio albums "Nothing Rhymes with Woman" & "How the West was One" (not including the Christmas album), primarily due to the fact that they strayed from their original celtic sound in favor of slower melodic tunes. I was ecstatic to listen to "Ghost Dragon Attacks Castle" and hear this album marks at least a temporary unapologetic return to the celtic sound that I love. This is a genuinely original, upbeat, energetic album (with a couple slower tracks) and a must-have for those who love the sound of celtic music!

Good album, with a much more Celtic feel than their others
This is different from all their previous albums since it focuses more on their Celtic influences. I like Celtic music, but this felt a little "too Celtic" for my tastes, if that makes sense. I really like the influence in their music, but this focuses so much on it that it loses a little bit of what I love about the overall sound of Carbon Leaf. That being said, I still like the album and would recommend it for a Carbon Leaf enthusiast or someone unfamiliar with Carbon Leaf who has a love for Celtic music.

Back to Their Roots
When Echo Echo came out I was immediately drawn into the celtic sounds of Carbon Leaf. From there on out I was a hopeful fan that was a little more let down after each, more radio friendly, less celtic release. I absolutely believe it is the artists discretion to take their band's sound in whatever direction they choose, but as a fan, I am ECSTATIC that they went back to celtic music in this release. If you liked Echo Echo, you'll love this. It's a well paced album that is fun from cover to cover. Buy this thing and thank me later.
