His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass Illustrated Edition

La edición esta muy bonita gran tamaño , buenas ilustraciones y es pasta dura ; la historia pues es otra cosa si te gustan los libros de fantasía te va a gustar si no mejor vete por otro tipo de lectura

I will treasure this book for the rest of my life. As a lifelong Dark Materials fan, I feel the story is simply impeccable and the gorgeous illustrations and printing of this edition truly does justice to a beloved masterpiece. Lee and Iorek battling the cliff ghasts is a personal favorite. Wonderful to see a full and clear painting of the alethiometer and all its symbols, almost like you're holding it in your own hands. I will be looking forward to the complete trilogy in this collection!

Unfortunately the book arrived damaged: the sides were broken and the color faded away too. The paper cover was broken too and there were remains of paper, which was not that nice as the book was for a present.

It’s a classic story, and the artwork made for it is in general of excellent quality, and in most cases beautifully done. My only problem, and it might not bother other people, is that the images sometimes do not correspond with the text it’s meant to illustrate. I noticed this only a short time after starting.Two early examples of this mismatch: isn’t text describes two different photos taken a few minutes apart. One photo is supposed to be on regular film, and the second photo, taken a few minutes later, is on a special film. The corresponding illustrations should have shown two different positions in the photo, but the two photos were identical (except for the ‘special effect’).The second one I noticed just a few pages later. A character is described as sitting down with toes curled inward and bare soles together. The picture shows the character wearing boots, planted on the ground.Okay, these are just small details that many won’t be troubled by, but I get the feeling that the artist didn’t read the text very carefully. Details count for me.Otherwise, it’s a nice edition of this book.

It’s not the book that isn’t great, it’s the cover. It arrived torn and crumpled.
